I agree. He's gone from duds to Parker, then another dud to another hot one in Pulev. He's had two duds recently which were awful. Taking a Povetkin next, before a half decent challenge would be repeating what's already not worked. Martin > Chisora or any combination around those ranks, stepping up gradually.
“UKAD's position is that the anti-doping rule violations it has asserted have been committed and the consequences set out in the UK Anti-Doping Rules should apply. The proceedings have therefore been resolved on the following basis: the anti-doping rule violations based on the reported presence of elevated levels of nandrolone metabolites are upheld, the refusal charge is withdrawn, Hughie and Tyson Fury each receive a two-year period of ineligibility, and their results from their respective fights in February 2015 are disqualified.“
If Hughie pulled out of that fight against Pulev he would have been a laughing stock amongst the moronic idiots on this forum who doubt any sort of injury suffered by boxers. Believe me when I say that. Hughie’s decision to fight anyway was admirable. He knew he wouldn’t get another shot at becoming mandatory and these are fighting men we are talking about. If you think Hughie and Peter would pull out of a fight because of a cut you really don’t know these people and the breed that they come from. Remember Hughie boxed on for years with a very debilitating illness that sapped his energy levels in the ring.
I sometimes talk about Hughie tongue in cheek but I've always backed him and what he's doing, on the whole. The Acne has been his biggest weakness, I'm not even joking, without the Acne he'd have been a World Champion by now. A 100%, sharp ad unaffected Hughie wins that Parker fight all day and night.
Yes, although I said I'm not his greatest fan, I have followed Hughie / Peter and Tyson, plus the associated players for a long time. I understand the fighting mentality, however in this case, they were wrong. The fact they asked for a postponement proves that they knew Hughie was in deep trouble. Tyson is a different beast in every way, yet he only just about got away with his risk against Deontay and then went on the run.
“The skirt” is not a fighter I particularly want to watch, but as long as Eddie is picking the opponents and not Peter, I will give him another go. I’m assuming he will get the customery Matchroom introductory bum opponent on the Loma/ Campbell card. After that Eddie has got to immediately put him in with one of his heavys like; Chisora, Hunter, Bakole, Takam or Price. If he loses clearly and/or stinks the place out in a “running man” win then Eddie should get rid.
There's a press conference to announce Hughie's next fight tomorrow, and Hearn also tweeted that he made a great fight for the Lomachenko-Campbell card that will be announced tomorrow, so assuming it's Hughie's fight, who do we think he could fight, that could fit the bill to be called a "great" fight? Povetkin? That's who I'm hoping for.
Always thought it was very odd that Hughie was covered in acne looking like some drug cheat, and then got popped for actually being a drug cheat. All whilst his team and those around him (which funnily enough consisted of a rag tag gang of career criminals, plus his drug cheat cousin at the time) insisted it was a 'mystery illness.' Very odd indeed that....
I agree with you, I always had this feeling that there could be more to the acne than meets the eye and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it isn't, or wasn't, exactly what you were saying it is. Very strange family, they've managed to make themselves likeable to the public at present but they're a PR f**k up away from it all falling apart. All that said, I want to believe that Hughie is and always has been clean, I want to believe that Tysons issues were purely depression related and I want to see them both do well as a result, but I have my doubts, serious doubts about both because that family have been proven to be full of s**t in the past.
I feel like this is a good move for Hughie Fury. Since his loss to Pulev, he has won his last two fights by knockout and i think everyone would agree that Norrad isn't even British title level and Peter's was clearly past his best. Fury signed for Matchroom last week and he is already being thrown in the mix with Alexander Povetkin on the Loma vs Campbell undercard. This is a massive step up in the quality of his opponent but this is also great exposure for him to announce himself on the big stage. Although Eddie Hearn isn't a fans favourite i feel that he has proven consistent with providing his fighters with good opportunities and Hughie Fury is in good hands.
Hayers shows up on here again (unfortunately) when there’s a thread on the Fury family with plenty of criticism and speculation. Funny that.
