Hughroy Currie Dead

Very sad to hear this. Trevor was an honest Fighter who did the very best with what he had. RIP Champ.

 

Boxing news did a nice article on him following his death

 

A good solid fighter, who was competent enough to beat anyone outside the top 40 or so fighters of his era.

 

and had a decent win over Evanalista

 

I had never heard of Hughroy until yesterday when I started down a long road of random boxing articles of the past after searching for material on Bert Cooper. Having come across a few nice pieces on Hughroy, I was intrigued and watched a few of his fights on YouTube.

Very competent fighter with a sneaky little jab that I loved watching. I’m sad to hear of his passing but I am grateful that I came across his name and got to be introduced to his fights. RIP Hughroy.

Anybody who has wins over guys named Funso Banjo and Proud Kilimanjaro is OK in my book.

 

Danny McAlinden died 8 th March as well. Boxing’s lost a lot of fighters in the last few months.

 

Never knew this R.I.P. Danny & Hughroy. Two more boxing family members passed
