These two would likely cancel each other out waiting for the other to take the lead IMO. Would Kalule do better than Ronnie Harris??
I was thinking 11-4 to a shutout sort of decision for Kalule myself. 10-5 or 9-6 if it's at Luna Park and he fights out of his skin.
I haven't seen Corro against Antufermo, only one of the Valdez fights and Harris, a southpaw but nothing like Kalule really. Gimme more of a breakdown Mante'.
You're not missing much not seeing the Vito fight. It's genuinely terrible.Vito doesn't really have the skill to break down such a cautious opponent and Corro more or less gives up in the last third, when Vito does start getting to him. Hugo was probably in front by a few rounds as well, until he folded.
pepe this is not a thread you post predictions of KO's in. Show some respect to the pillow fisted Combatants please.
I'll go with Corro a 15 round decision. He fights conservatively as hell until the lst three rounds, ala his 1st fight with Valdez. I know that Kalule would have been a younger foe than Valdez, but Corro did "safety first" better than Kalule.
Early Hugo Corro,,,,,,,,, By April 1978 - 43-2-1 (24 KO's), Hugo could set you up with many jabs, then feint, and boom a straight one down 'Broadway'. He had 'granite chinned' Rodrigo Valdez all 'rubbery legged' in both one-sided wins.
Ayub Kalule did lose to Hans-Henrik Palm in the amateurs, who couldn't break an egg with a sledge-hammer. That's not too good. Hugo, too big, too strong and too cagey. Ayub too predictable. April 1979 'Fight Date' Computer says, Hugo Corro scores a TKO at 1:57 of Round 9.
pepe weren't you arguing that Kalule had a "near granite" chin in some of the fight threads you did on him a few months ago You must think Corro was some beast of a puncher.
No, I said Ayub Kalule had a good chin, not 'granite chin'. Hugo, was a good puncher. Computer says a TKO, which would not necessarily mean a knockdown. I'm thinking more of Ayub getting stunned, and Hugo teeing off with a volley of punches on a dazed Ayub.
