Valero apparently abandoned his 135 lb title and has declared that he will fight at 140. However, the WBC opted not to strip his title as to give Valero time to reconsider his decision as he heals his injuries. The result is that Humberto Soto will fight for the interim title. The WBC will convene to determine his opponent.

This was announced yesterday in a WBC press release.

In the last fight Valero looked like he struggled to make weight... However, i would love to see them fight.

Actually im happy with this move...

at 140 there are a lot of names and will lead to plenty of dynamic matchups... Bradley, Alexander, Maidana, Holt, Malignaggi, Ortiz, Khan,

    glad to hear this....

He says he wants to...but the WBC took the unusual step of not stripping him. Soto will fight for an interim title giving Valero time to think about his decision.

The information was published in Spanish on Mexico's premiere sports newspaper Esto.

If the Bradley fight falls thru Valero should fight Soto. I read somewhere that Soto might fight David Diaz on the undercard of The Battle Heads for the interim. Soto should KO Diaz and then set up the Valero fight. But like Arum said "**** the Fans" so I doubt it.

If Valero is going up to 140 lbs, They need to do Valero vs Urango.

That would be brutal. Urango might end up getting beat down.
