So you don't have a problem with Chael Sonnen stepping up, but one with him recieving the fight at a later date? Go back to the time the fight was made... Alexander G and Glover T were booked. Machida turned down a rematch. There was no legitimate challenger available. You can't tell me Little Nog was a legimitate challenger and that a fight a rematch with Jon Jones made sense. JJ holds a belt and needs to defend it.... Who better than the person calling him out, who he had beef with? Who else is going to make for a better pairing on TUF with JJ??

A lot of you just don't see the big picture. Also, I don't believe you or any fan of Mark Hunt would be calling bull**** if he had been granted a Title Fight last year.

The UFC's success and growth of Mixed Martial Arts over the past ten years was not bound to happen. It takes a special person to bring the Sport this far and have major shows in every corner of the World. Not anyone can be President of a organization and take it to such Great heights, let alone a ******. Your a hater bro, and you have nowhere else to go with these explanations.

Time to waste? I believe anyone who ever visited a message board had time to waste :deal

Your obviously upset that someone took the time to expose you as a hater and call out the childish behavior you exhibit. Here is another example. Don't get mad at us because we're having a say in things... This is a forum. Grade A ******s? Your just name calling. Schoolyard **** going down in your replies bro. It seems like you can't remain civil in a discussion. I got no hard feelings, but there is a pattern here. Every week it's something new... From putting bullets on Dana's name, to saying he should be hung, to believing that cutting weight is worse than PEDs.

No, I don't have a problem with him stepping up to save an event. Things like that happen. Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson were scheduled to face each other in 1990. Tyson got hurt, and they replaced him with Francesco Damiani. Then Damiani was hurt, and replaced by Bert Cooper on a weeks notice. Neither Cooper nor Damiani deserved a title shot, but it was ok under the circumstances. It would not have been ok if Cooper, or Damiani, were given a title shot otherwise.

Anyone in the lightheavyweight division that has won their last fight is more deserving than Sonnen.

And yes, I would have a problem with Hunt getting a title shot last year. Unlike Chael, Hunt had actually fought and won in the same weight division as Dos Santos in his previous fight. Still, that would have been a ****ing joke. I would have a problem with Hunt fighting for the title this year. That is, unless he wins his next fight. What I didn't have a problem with was him replacing an injured fighter for a title shot.

And yes, Lil Nog is more deserving of a title shot than Chael. He just beat a previous champion that had last been seen fighting for the 205 lb title.

Half the men in the LHW division would be recieving rematches after losing one sided fights to JJ.

    Fair enough.

That's why he failed miserably as a boxing promoter ?

Just wondering man, after how many time that I repeated myself can I loose my temper ?
After how many time of him repeating the same shitty point that I already refuted 4 post ago do I get to just tell him he is a ******** ?

And FYI....for the steroids stuff, if you weren't such a dishonest **** maybe you would have seen the NEXT post I made about that, the one were I say that

but knowing that ALL the champ is each division(except 125, Even Cruze would be a tought guy at 145) that could easily jump in weight I just think it's complete BS to keep us, fans, away from so many great fight.

They care called wieght category, not height category.

    Good one

So many Great fights huh? I believe they are doing the exact opposite of what you think, but if there are so many Great match ups they are holding out on why don't you fire off a couple and think about this before you do..... The UFC can't sweet talk, can't force fighters to make the fights fans we might want to see. The company can only go so far before the competitors sign contracts.

    That's fair enough. :good

Yeah, the irritating thing is that a lot of the same "Rally for Mark Hunt" guys were going ape**** when Chael looked like he was going to fight Jones on short notice. The only reason being, they like Hunt and hate Chael. :conf

Sonnen is a holding-pattern defence. Jones has already cleaned out most of the division, and is waiting for the next couple of guys to emerge. It will have been too soon for Gustafsson or Texiera. Little Nog didn't have enough good wins at that stage. And most of the other top guys had already been routed by Jones. (I was never that excited about the Hendo fight - I never saw 42 year old Hendo as having much chance at all)

I reckon the UFC gave Chael the shot because:

    1) There's a temporary shortage of known, available, appropriate LHW challengers.

    2) Chael is a big name who will go above and beyond to promote the fight, and who will go right at Jones in the cage.

    3) To punish Hendo for lying to them by concealing his injury until the last second and therefore costing them millions of dollars in lost revenue, as well as causing a publicity fiasco with the cancellation.

    4) To make a point to the other fighters that guys who are willing to step up and fight anyone anywhere at any time, as well as to help promote the fight, will put themselves in line for opportunities that Machida-type "I need this and this and this - then I'll fight for the title" will not get. Like him or hate him, Chael has the old-school "do your job" fighter's mentality. He works his ass off, takes a lot of the promotional heavy lifting on his shoulders, makes people care about/pay attention to his fights, and is basically exactly the type of guy who should be given these opportunities when they crop up.

I'm not mad at this title defence either.

Jones will clearly fight anyone, Sonnen is a big name and IMO looks a LOT more like a natural LHW than he does a MW. He looks enormous and in-shape on TUF, and looked gaunt and drained as **** in the Bisping and Silva 2 weigh-ins. I expect him to look better at 205 than he did the last couple of times at 185. He was gassed as **** after dominating the first round in Silva 2. :-(

Yeah he's coming off a loss, but it's a loss to Anderson Silva, so it barely even counts. And he showed zero fear of MMA's most dominant and punishing champion, which is a good trait when fighting Jones. Whatever happens, Chael will push the action and won't just sit back and wait to be dismantled. He'll go right at Jones, which is something most guys haven't done. And he stands a good chance of putting Jones on his back, which is something we haven't seen before. :conf

Didn't know White tried at boxing promotion before getting into MMA ?

....what is your actual point here ?

I'm saying that if GSP want to fight at 170, let him get to 170 the night of the fight, not the day before....is that really hard to get ?

The dude is weighting almost 200 pound on fight night...30 pound more then the limit at 170...

You stupidity is reaching man...or you are just d dishonest poster, simple has that !

Yeah you know they tried that, for decades in fact. And they only moved the weighins to the day before because it's very dangerous to have a guy half-kill himself trying to make weight and then get into the ring/cage with no time to rehydrate. It's dangerous for the fighters and it affects their performance for the fans.

So yeah. They've tried that, then enough evidence mounted that it doesn't really work, takes away from the quality of the entertainment, and is dangerous. So the day-before the weigh-in is the lesser of two evils. This is quite well-known among fans of combat sports. What were you saying about stupidity? :blood

Oh it was bound to happen anyway, and Dana White and Zuffa had nothing to do with MMA EXPLODING in popularity from a starting point of being all but extinct and illegal in most places. Righto. :silly

So basically you're saying that anyone could have done what Dana did. And as a big MMA fan you not only hate Dana, you would have hated ANYONE who took the sport from being totally irrelevant and on the verge of extinction, to being accepted, then to being popular, and finally got it showing major events live all across the world on primetime network TV on the planet's biggest sports channel.

Whoever did that for the sport you claim to love, by your own words you would have bitched and hated on that guy.

What a great fan you are. :patsch

You're right here with us, moron.

Hey we're not claiming to be "doing good." We're just watching the fights, enjoying the incredible growth of a sport we like, and being happy that there's a new combat sport which is vibrant and exciting and easy to follow and international and consistently producing great cards and matchups, many of them live on major-network free TV. :good

You're watching the fights, claiming to be a fan of the sport, and bitching, bitching, bitching. :patsch

Getting in the middle of an arguement like always and missing the point compleltly...

I don't want them to do that, I consider that a guy that weight 30 pound more then his weight limit is cheating, just a personal opinion, won't defend it ! :good

Seriously ***gis you are reaching man, I gave props plenty of time to the Zuffa management, stopped saying they were paying there fighter peanuts after the McCorkle article, I just don't like DW(the new DW...I watched an old Pride few month ago and the DW I saw there I geniuly liked, he seemed like an ok guy now if is a dick) and you are trying to paint me as an hater of anything Zuffa touch...**** off man, if there is one person Zuffa should thank it's me, each and every week I talk to whoever want to hear me that this weekend event will be the ****in BOMB....each and every week....but on top of that I try to watch as much Asian MMA I can find....
