Ward is a very good fighter but he needs to grow a set and say he is willing to travel abroad just like Froch, Kessler, Bute and many others have done then I'm sure even Froch might well consider a return match.

As said above Ward wants everything on his terms and it is just going to happen like that against other top ranked SMW's.

Ward is no Mayweather in terms of pulling power and name but seems to want the same terms.

I like Andre Ward, but he's stagnating.

Also, Virgil Hunter's comments don't make much sense.

Because if he can't get the fights at SMW, then he HAS to move up to LHW.

How can they rule out a move up?

If he won't move up, and he can't get fights, then simply put, he's not going to fight.

But Andre's spoken in the past of fighting a HW before he retires.

So fighting at LHW shouldn't be an issue.

He has to be more active.

    Typical.

    YDKSAB!

I guess you must think all the time David Tua sat out while suing his management was his fault also.

...sometimes saying nothing is better than saying something. Hunter should have said nothing rather than blame all the other fighters who are each going about their own business.

Andre thinks he is in the position Floyd is in right now; the A side.

What he doesnt realise is that he brings nothing to the table apart from his ranking.

Indeed. Why would anyone push for a Ward fight?

Not only is there a huge risk of it falling through due to 'Dres promotional difficulties, there's basically only one opponent (Froch) who HBO might be able to scrape a profit out of given Wards absurd min. $1.75 mil per fight contact.

Add to the complexities of making the fight that Ward's the kinda fighter who makes everyone look bad...can anyone really be surprised that Ward is gradually sinking into insignificance.

Ward already cost HBO a ton of money ($2 mil to fight La Bomba ffs) and there's rumours that his eventual goal is to find his way to Haymon anyway...

It looks like HBO were hoping (per the Stupid payday already mentioned) to make Ward into a big 'star' but may have simply decided he's more trouble than he's worth. Time should tell.

Goosens's kicking Wards **** all over the courtroom because Andre, sublimely skilled though he is, believes that he's worth far more $s than he actually is.

    I read this.
Its tough to work ward out since the S6. Bute had to go fight some other fighters first, I dont think he will fight the Dirrells, he is not interested to go up to LHW.

Yeah, there is always two sides to a coin.

Plus, Ward rated at #2 P4P has to sit back and watch as his defeated opponents cash in huge checks that he is not getting.
Is that Goosen's fault? After all, Goosen is his promoter.

Exciting or not, Ward won the Super6 tournament, and ranks #2 P4P.
    #1, Mayweather is earning $30+M/Match.
    Pacquiao is earning $20M/match.
I don't know how much Froch made by KO'ing the glass chinned Groves twice, but it has to be at least in the $3-5M range.

Ward is fortunate to get $1M/Match.
Ward does his part. He boxes and wins. Someone has to take the blame.

For the Froch Groves 2 fight Froch made £10M ($16M) and Groves made £2M ($3.2M). Pretty good numbers for a domestic fight!

    Damn!

    No wonder Ward is pissed.

He'd beat either none of these guys and Goosen brings him an offer for $800-900K.

Why does someone have to take the blame? Why can't it simply be that his fights are straight up unwatchable and no one wants to pay to see them. Why can't it be because he can't even get involved in compelling matchups (by moving up) that might get people interested despite his atrocious style.

Why can't it just be his fault for being uncompromising?
