Hunter>>>>> Ruiz. Ruiz is a poor man's munguia (Ruiz not a champ of course), looks average against out matched Opponents. Clubbing oaf Ruiz would get beaten into submission in 8 rounds. Hunter would be way more of a challenge for AJ. AJ fighting Ruiz is insult. Ruiz has to earn his shot. My mind will be blown if Ruiz goes four rounds with AJ. This content is protected
I don't really have enough knowledge to make a reasoned assessment, but I've voted Hunter as from the little I've seen I think he has the higher ceiling. I think Hunter will be brought through to be a challenger in the next 18 months and aside from the concerns over his size he looks to have all the credentials.
I reckon Ruiz Jr is a good fighter, high work rate, decent technically and very fast hands but he's let down by his lack of footwork and movement (which Hunter excels at). The only guy I could see Ruiz beating in the curremt Ring Magazine top 10 is Kownacki and maybe Rivas. Whilst I would back Hunter to school both Kownacki and Rivas. Apart from that I wouldnt be surprised to see Hunter cause upsets against several of the other top 10 opponents which i can't see Ruiz JR doing.
Hunter is probably better than Ruiz. He beat Ruiz jr at amateurs easily, and (while both boxers are quick and skilled) Hunter has much better stamina than Andy, I knew Hunter is the real deal since amateur days. He KO'd Oscar Rivas, stopped Andy Ruiz jr, and cleaned out American 201 and 201+ classes. Hunter lost very controversial decision at Olympics to Arthur Betterbiev, prominent amateur and current LHW champion. The guy is from boxing family and has fine amateur pedigree. The only thing that limits him at HW is his size (he can easily make CW without any problems, he's smaller and shorter than Usyk).
