Hunter now stating HBO forced Ward out of SMW

    It was no secret HBO wanted Ward to face Kovalev and made that very clear. This isn't anything new. Ward was basically told either fight Kovalev or you are not fighting in our network anymore.

    Thats just it though lol, you guys always bring up golovkin fans, when most of the time its YOU GUYS bringing up Golovkin in every other thread :lol:

    This thread is about Ward being moved by HBO to fight Kovalev, and you are using it to bring up Golovkin and say 'look what Ward did, Golovkin wouldnt do it!' lol....

    And on a side note

    - Ward had no big options at his weight, no big fights left, making his weight was hard, and was being moved by HBO to fight Kova....

    - Golovkin has a 15 million dollar offer all he has to do is say yes to and he will be in the biggest fight of his OR wards career against Canelo, and makes his weight fine. So, I guess the wait paid off....

    Two completely different situations.... I know Golovkin haters have a hard time understanding contexts but I keep hoping.


    And you know, sometimes fighters just kinda fight at the weight class they are naturally suited for.... crazy concept I know. And whether Ward moved up because he didnt want to make 168 anymore (which hes said for years now he was going to do, and was basically only still there because he was trying to poach a middleweight) or he moved up because HBO said if you want us to put you back on our network, you gotta fight Kovalev, he gets props from me for doing what very few fighters do these days and go straight at the killer above him. That being said, lets not pretend making weight, lack of opponents, and being moved by HBO to do it werent significant factors in his decision :lol: Factors that G simply doesnt have to deal with, hence hes staying in his lane at middleweight.

    im bringing it up...because...if what hunter is saying is true...then it is probably in someway related to golovkin...i think thats pretty simple to understand and follow right? of course its not easy for you to make that correlation because it paints golovkin in a negative light

    i love how that 15 mil is an actual offer now.....because last week to the golovturds it isnt even an offer...its just oscar posturing and pretending

    like i said...almost 2 years later and still no canelo fight...and no guarantee of it either

    ward is a poor draw...but he just stayed in america and cemented his legacy by beating an unbeaten savage ko artist ...and he made the same money ggg did ...only ggg had to travel to the UK to fight a welterweight for it...lol

    "OWNED"....lol....you guys are such sad simps.....run around claiming another guy owned another guy....but you have no defense of golovkin that i cant rip apart easily

    ggg moving up has always been a possibility and is still talked about lol

    and your timing is terribly off...ggg was only "willing" when he knew ward was out and on the shelf.....isnt that convenient? when both were active and ggg had not much else going on....ggg and k2 rebuffed wards contact within in an hour.......ggg then goes on to fight dom wade and kell brook in 2016...what a year huh?!?!

    thats reality...but of course you golovkin apologists always twist timelines and distort the truth

    Damn, it must be awful to be Suckmaster. Sort of like Dino in Wlad's heyday, hoping for disaster every fight, and being serially disappointed. :lol: Anybody that thinks Canelo has a better chance against GGG than Jacobs needs to put the tequila away, he's had too much. Ward is the only guy I'll say had a decent shot of taking GGG's "0" and he's now 2 weight classes higher.

    Two bogeymen for GGG, and both on record having refused a fight with him.

    That's some p*ss-poor trolling material to work with, right there.

    I pity you lot.

    GGG moving up to challenge Ward is not a serious possibility now. It was only serious before Canelo-GGG came on the radar, perhaps if Ward had not been out of the ring 2014-2015 it would have happened.

    You are most welcome to correct my timeline, but you need to provide sources. What part was wrong? You keep talking about the 2015 "negotiations", but I can't even identify where we disagree. So please tell me where you disagree explicitly:

    - GGG told HBO he wanted Ward in 2013. That's when he wanted the fight. For whatever reason, it did not happen. But GGG was keen, he wasn't a big name then and Ward was.

    - In 2015, Ward was the one who wanted the fight. GGG wasn't willing unless he got very good money.

    My understanding was that they offered him a contract if he would commit to taking on a big fight. As things stood in late 2015 with basically all the top SMWs with Haymon (and none of them really big players anyway) that meant either Golovkin or Kovalev. When it became clear Golovkin wasn't interested that narrowed it down to Kovalev at 175. The only protection involved here was HBO protecting their investment. Ward - reasonably - wanted the HBO contract and a lot of money - HBO wanted to make sure it was worth their while giving it to him. I'm not entirely sure what's so complicated about that, and no conspiracies are really required to explain it.

    why wasn't golovkin interested? did he have something better to do in 2016? I don't think he did...or did he prefer to not take an L and keep trying to get a whiff of canelos panties?

    talking about 168 all the time while avoiding a featherfisted smw champion in favor of chasing a guy who has 0 career fights at 160 full limit is not a good look

    im still a little unsure of when ggg wanted this fight....was ward actually able to fight at this time?

    im aware this fight is no longer a possibility....but canelo is no excuse for a guy to duck a perfectly great fight....its almost two years later and ggg still doesn't have canelo...and there is really no certain end in sight

    if ggg had landed the fight or it was certain for September I might be willing to give slack
