I rated Hunter picked him to beat Bakole, thought he beat Povetkin too. But Hrgovic isn't as basic as Bakole and isn't way over the hill like Povetkin. I think Hrgovic will win as he knows how to utilise his size and Hunter is more of a boxer than a pressure fighter so won't find it so easy to out box Hrgovic with his usual style. But Hunter will be competitive enough to go the distance and lose on points.
The profoundly overrated and far too easy to hit Hrgovic is tailor made for Hunter. Michael will swarm him, maul him and KO him with a looping overhand right. It won't look all that dissimilar from this fight. Only Hunter is an orthodox fighter, but similar style, and harder to hit clean. This content is protected Put this into perspective, Hunter has beaten Povetkin (rightfully) Kuzmin and Bakole. Hrgovic has beaten Eric Molina.
Don't know where to rate Hrogvic. He isn't yet even tested vs any top 20 boxer with a pulse. He does beat hard for his weight and size and does have 2 hands. Will see how good he is or isn't. He had lost this one for me. Still he was not bad and current shape Povetkin I think he had finished faster than Whyte.
With all of the people discussing Povetkin vs Hunter, I'm sure we can all agree it was a great fight, oddly underrated.
I think he lost this one vs Povetkin. Still this experience looks more valuable cos this was 40 y 3 months old Povetkin. Whyte had considerably older Pov versions : 40y11 months and 41 y6 months old Pov. Usyk fight, okey, he didn't had won, experience still does matters: 12 rounds vs fresh prime 30 y.o Usyk who then had 90% stoppage wins ratio. Hunter he didn't had finished and I think this was Usyk's version when he had reached his real prime period. For Hunter bonuses are experience. For Hrgovic: he isn't old, he is enough large for HW and does have power in both hands pretty decent for his weight. cons: he looks relatively inexperienced despite he does have surprisingly high ranking positions.
Too many people think because Hrgovic looks like Vitali he fights like him as well. He's not really anywhere near as awkward or as physically powerful, and I don't think Hunter will have a problem landing on him. Hunter will likely get Hrgovic to gradually drop his guard with spearing jabs to the body then catch him clean with one of his looping overhand rights out of a crouch, stun him and follow up with a barrange of blows that might lead to a standing count or TKO. If the former I think Hrgovic spends the rest of the night on the backfoot trying not to get buzzed again and ends up losing a points decision (if the judges have it right).
I don't think that he fights like Vitali because he does not fight like Vitali had fought not at all. Hrgovic also yet does not have experience with anyone with a pulse from top 20 for fight. Power, yeah, he does have.
Personally I don't get the comparisons to Vitali. Vitali had way more variety and a more complete set of skills. Vitali moved well laterally, utilised head and upper body movement, had a more relaxed hands down style where he'd make guys lead, and then lean back and counter. He also had a way more versatile left hand. I see Hrgovic right now as a bigger more powerful, slightly more agile version of Pulev rather than Vitali.
If about Pulev, I think now he is enough old and Hrgovic will beat him up in 6 rounds out cold. Whit only one very good thing: jab and being smaller and older, doesn't looks he might last vs Hrgovic 10 rounds. Hrgovic maybe is even more versatile and might had appeared improved since his last fight. Hunter might gave him more problems than now 39 Pulev.
I see him as a slower, more telegraphed Wlad actually. He's got the same wide stance pawing left hand style but nowhere near the sharpness or speed of hand or foot. I can see the Pulev comparison too though. He's certainly not someone who makes me sit up and say wow, that guy's going to dominate the division! If he beats Hunter that'll go some way to validating him, but right now he's just a hyped prospect who's beaten Eric Molina and Amir Mansour.
