What?? Gamache nearly died there. How is that not seriously hurt? He got permanent brain damage. I mean.... I think that is pretty seriously hurt https://www.badlefthook.com/2009/7/22/957709/gatti-gamache-a-damaged-fighters
Lamont Peterson was weighing 165+ for his LWW fights. Madaina routinely was 170+ for his WW fights. Both Brook and Spence topped 165+ for their fight. I can't believe that Hurd was >170 last night, but it's no matter regardless. 15 lbs is par for the course. Lara is/was always the smaller man at 154, and it benefitted him vs guys who were not 5 tool fighters. His biggest W was PWilly robbery draw and his best fight was Alvarez, both of whom clearly had 8/10 lbs on him. In both fights, it was his slick defense and counters and the turn that won him rds. Hes simply slowed to the point where a BIG, but strong and quick, of both hand and foot fighter was going to get him. Angulo lacked the power and foot work. Martirosyan lacked the power and handspeed, and Trout simply had the wrong game plan trying to outslick the slickest fighter in the 140-175 classes. Hurd IS the best LMW ATM..... But I've no doubt(IMHO) that MELLO would have been the first to stop Lara if that was the fight last night. As it stands, Hurd is the man ATM.... Lara Trout JoJo Dan Harrison Galarza...No LMWs champs have a better top 5 Ws. Mello has Martirosyan Rosado Lubin Hatley Jackson Ali has only Cotto and Abregu. And I don't think Lara can beat either of those 3 anymore. And heaven help Lara if he's gotta get by Brook to get another crack at a title. Brook would put him to sleep and early
Canelo has GENERALLY REFUSED dressing room unofficial reweighs. Post the link please or use some cognitive thinking. Unless you are a ASIDE fanboy apologist, dressing room weights should be Mandatory for the purpose of handicapping the action in the ring. Instead, it's dodged as it's disclosure could lead to rehydration clauses in negotiations with other top fighters. What's your opinion
Fair enough. He took the case to the court against the comission. Said that he had nothing against Gatti, he was just doing his job as a fighter. But the comissions ****ed up. Judge agreed, but sadly he wasn't given ANY money :/ Said he wasn't after that, but would have been good that he would have gotten some. But good that he can finally get his peace http://www.thesweetscience.com/arti...ion-achieved-joey-gamache-wins-his-last-fight
So apparently we don't "hate" those who cut a lot of weight to fight, just those we don't like? You cannot be selective if people are within the rules they are within the rules.
Adrien Broner early in his career. Chavez Jr all his career. Canelo vs Khan & josesito lopez being the most glaring examples. Jarret Hurd looks like a black Chavez Jr. Both in Fighting style & looks like a giant in the ring against his opponents. Literally dwarfing them. That being said i like his fighting style & enjoy wat hing him fight.
Didn't have any action on the fight so I didn't care who won, but man, I was amazed at the size difference between the two. Hurd looked twice the size of Lara. Lara showed a ton of heart in lasting the distance
Out of curiosity how long before the fight was he weighed again? The IBF morning check weights are not a good indicator since they still have over 12 hours to re hydrate even higher, Curious what time hurd we weighed again.
I honestly couldn't tell you, I only heard it mentioned during the fight. You have a good point though.
According to Rafael, Canelo weighed 171, and Lara 166. Five pounds isn't a big difference at that weight. Lara weighed 170.5 against Smith. People speculating about what Hurd weighed, should link facts as well. Otherwise, it is all speculation.
Alvarez routinely refuses dressing room scales. As for the Lara fight.... IDK where Lara is hiding those lbs comparatively. Hurd looked like 200 if Lara was 170 ffs. And I don't LIKE speculation. And it's why I stand by my statement that dressing room reweighs should be Mandatory.
