I think Hurd knows that is very tough fight but to be honest he deserves a break. He has had tough fights back to back, he should fight his mandatory Jrock too.
This is not a good move for Hurd. He gets hit way too much, regardless of the opponent’s skill level. He should fight Charlo ASAP, followed by J-Rock, Liam Smith, and Brook. After that, he should call it a career, as an unbeaten, unified champion. He could accomplish these things before 30.

Charlo beats a cripple who could hardly walk, then he beats Pee Wee Herman! Vanes is a much better fighter than the cripple and Pee Wee........................how does beating an unknown cripple make you mandatory? Anyone have an answer to that?

if his handlers were any good, they would be pushing to position him as undisputed as quick as possible so that he steps into a big fight with whoever is left standing when the ggg sweepstakes plays through. hes got the size, and if hes the man at 154, its a sellable fight against ggg, or his conqueror. hes got the momentum and he needs to stay in fight discussions by fighting meaningful fights.
