Hurd beats a 34 year old Lara and now its "he beat the ghost of Lara" The same Lara that hasnt had a hard fight since Angulo. 35 year old GGG goes 12 hard rounds with a PRIME much younger Jacobs and its "he couldnt even KO Jacobs" 35.5 year old GGG goes 12 hard rounds with a juiced up PRIME hulking Canelo and gets robbed with a "draw" and its "he couldnt even beat Canelo" If Lara is faded at 34, younger than GGG,how is GGG prime now at 36? LOL
I don't think Lara is shot, and I don't think Hurd beat him, that being said, barring the eye injury, had the Angulo fight gone the distance, Perro's performance>>>>>>>>Hurd's.
You’ll get nothing consistent just bias fruit cups sucking the man juice out of another on this board
That is the usual. It's called juking the stats. When compubox favors their fighter, then they will cite compubox results. If not, they will say it is the quality of punches not the quantity landed. I am guilty of this as well.
Lara has been within his optimum performance range these last couple years (though Saturday might have taken a real toll) and so has Golovkin. People began acting as if Golovkin was in some grievous state of decline to cover his ass in case he lost to Canelo, and it was inevitable that some guys would start claiming that Lara was washed-up if Hurd got the W over him.
Lara was dependent on his legs more than GGG and the legs are the first to go. He's still sharp , accurate and quick , he just can't dance around the ring like he used to.
Hurd > Angulo. Agreed? But I’m With you on Lara declining. Most boxers start declining after 30. 33-34 is when the drop off starts. Floyd Bhop are the exception rather than the rule
Fighters ages have nothing to do with any other fighters age. One guy can be in his prime at 27, another washed up. One guy still operating at a high level at 40, another guy shot. this type of justification on ages, or moving up, just has to stop. All it does is introduce faulty reasoning... Consistency isnt an issue with ages...it's who those who make certain assertions based on ages.

I think the Lara that fought Gulo would have beaten Hurd clearly. Lara's been around a long time and i never saw him so flat footed before. He looked goosed in his corner after 5 rounds! Badou Jack is the same age and I think he was way more left in the tank than Lara does.
One thing I've admired Lara for is the heart he shows when under duress. It's why I knew Saturday would be worth tuning in for instead of catching a Dailymotion or a torrent the next day, because Hurd is the kind of fighter who can force that kind of 'bite down and dig deep' performance out of him.
Lara is closer to his prime than Golovkin IMHO. Full credit to Hurd, he did better than I expected and he has the best wins at 154 lb now. And he's huge. He'd still be a massive MW, he looked like a cruiser in there. Apparently he walks around at about 175-176. I know some people don't like massive guys fighting in what looks like the "wrong" division, but Hurd is honest about his size advantage and he seems like a good guy to me.
Look at Hurd tho. He stopped Trout whereas Charlo barely landed anything clean on him. Styles make fights but we cannot discount Hurd and his aggression
