Hurd is in my new fav fighter club The old dogs are retiring one by one we need new blood to fanboy over lol
People peak and decline at different ages. Lara is no where near shot but neither is he prime, The same with GGG, Prime lara imo beats that version of hurd, Guys like spence, thurman, etc most likely won't be as good as they are now when they are in their mid 30's farther time is real. Floyd was still great in his mid 30's but he wen't the same pretty boy floyd knocking guy's out like he was in his 20's GGG only peaked in his mid 30's because he started late as a pro, If he had started earlier his prime would have come earlier too and he would have been even better due to being physically younger.
First of all, that was a highly, highly impressive performance from Hurd. But that wasn't exactly some definitive decisive victory. A rematch is 100% warranted and then some. As for the age element you bring up in the opening post... styles and skills. Power is the last to go. Foot speed and head movement is the first. These are universally accepted truths in boxing. Now do you understand how all things are not equal? Specifically not age in boxing. Come on, man. That should only have to be explained to some of the terrible posters here.
I haven't seen Lara's last couple of fights so I can't say he got beat without father time assisting. While it is so true, we switch up, I can think of a few fighters that looked great and next fight it was a wrap. 2nd round Lewis vs Vitali, I thought Lennox looked sluggish as hell, then Lamply I think said it. Cory Spinks vs Lattimore, his legs were just shot. Never saw him like that. Like Lara he went into dog-mode. Unlike Lara, Cory grinded out a dogfight win.
The thing is his fans we're saying Jacobs and Canelo we're not going past 6 rounds against GG, GG looks bad against both and all of the sudden he's"old" lol
I picked Lara to win and said thar he would be sharp. I have no qualms with giving Hurd the credit he deserves. But I do question if he can do the same to larger fighters like the Charlos, Canelo, Jacob's, or GGG.
This. Lara isn't shot, but definitely a faded fighter. Also, Lara hasn't had a decent opponent, since Martirosyan. Foreman and Gausha we're far from top competition.
i didnt think he had it in him, honestly. guys got heart, he was actually trying to bully hurd right back, in spots.
lara isn't shot he just struggles with that style even in his prime against angulo but he is slightly faded but he has a hell of a heart unlike some cubans
