Something about two humans inflicting potentially life shortening damage to each other, having to muster up every ounce of will to stay in a ring when every fibre of their body is screaming stop. Even though we call fighters bums, the only real bums in boxing are the guys who give up without trying, deep inside even the guys like Khan who get sparked constantly deserve some respect for what they do.
Thats a funny comment coming from Golovkin though lol. A guy who refused to leave first gear against Jacobs in a fight that was very close and who spent the night backing up against Canelo in the rematch.
No he was supposed to coast to UD loss as agreed upon by DAZN,, Casuals are supposed to believe he tried his best to win without throwing any punches maybe a hard one every 3 rounds or so... A boxer who has been in the ring knows what that was Saturday night! It was a don't bite the hand that feeds you!!
Glad to see this. Great exposure for the fighters and the sport. As others have said, when you don't BS and put on good matchups, people will watch.
Didn't he knock Jacobs down?? yes he won the bout but barely!! The man is 36 years old and has had over 345 amateur bouts what gear he was burnt out before he even turned pro! As most eastern Euro's you will find after that many fights they develop one gear and if it ain't working often times they are unable to adjust,, But, at 36 vs Canelo what did you expect when has a fighter with the rare exception of Hopkins get better with age???
It's good news that the fight was a success, it deserved to be. Both guys deserved respect at the end and it was nice to see the response from J Rock and his trainer, it was clearly a dream come true for the pair of them. Sadly the PBC deal with ITV seems to be coming to an end, not sure what will happen in the UK for future fights. Its been great having these shown on free to air tv even if the times are difficult for us.
Agree, wish ITV would get another deal - seen some great fights, Plant - Uzcat was a good one and obviously Saturday was a great fight.
This was a good fight. A little bit too much inside fighting for my taste, but that's a matter of personal preferences. Williams started the fight very confidently and, after the second round knockdown, it became obvious that the outcome of this fight is far from certain.
