Sad to hear the news that Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter has prostate cancer and probably only months to live. The news was revealed a few days back by a lifetime friend of Carter's, John Artis.

Posters on this part of the forum should be well aware of who Rubin Carter is, but for anybody that isn't >>>

'Hurricane' Carter was the US middleweight convicted of murdering 3 people in in New Jersey in 1966, and immortalized by Bob Dylan's song 'The Hurricane'.

I don't wish death on anyone, but when he does close his eyes for the last time, I hope the first thing he sees when he opens them is the faces of the people he murdered.

I've read a bit on the murders, as I'm sure you probably have, and I also tend to think that he was guilty.

But mine is an uneducated view based mostly on reading other people's uneducated views.

If he did commit the murders, and he's probably one of the few people who really know the truth, I hope he sees the faces of those he killed too.

After watching the movie i read up about him and he seems like a genuine piece of ****, I'm not glad that he's dying but i hold no sympathy.

How do you see the comparison between how they portrayed things in the movie and the stuff you read later and found most believable? Do you rate the movie as a load of rubbish as a consequence?

I bet Bob Dylan feels like an idiot and a half. He doesn't play the song and apparently refuses to discuss it :!:

True, and the part of song where he sings that Rubin was #1 contender for middleweight crown---well, Carter had lost 6 of 12, was out of ranking, and career was over.

True enough. But it wouldn't have sounded as good in the song, would it :think

I don't know what to think re Carter, though I've read a lot of comments from inside people who state matter of fact that he was "a lying murdering *******"

I don't honestly know, good luck to him, God Love him and FORGIVE him, thats all we can hope for anyone!

Underrated fighter because people (rightly) think the movie is a misleading crock of ****.
