Carter, at his very best may well have stopped Mustafa..a rather crude strong but powerless brawler with no style...seems to me to be a sharpshooting Hurricane's bonanza here.

Interesting matchup. I distinctly remember reading in one issue of Ring from the 1980s leading up to the Hagler rematch that Bert Sugar wrote that Hamsho's chin was better than Haglers.

That seems ridiculous in retrospect but the Syrian brawler had some good scalps, including two wins over impossibly rugged and strong Curtis Parker, Alan Minter, Bobby Czy who was on top of the world at that point, Wilfred Benitez and he went twelve round with Donny Lalonde who was far bigger, fresher, and had amazing punching power.

On the surface this appears to be a clear victory for the Hurricaine but Hamsho was so ****ing awkward, strong as a bull, had an impregnible chin at his peak, with fit enough to go 15 hard rounds without getting winded, and was a southpaw to boot the fight becomes more of a tossup. The only Carter wins this one easily is with a cut. That said he probably wins 7 of 10 fights here.
