You never know, Williams spent a lot more time crashing to the canvas multiple times against Ali, Satterfeild, bob mashburn, mac Foster, blue Lewis, Sylvester Jones, Mel turnbow, Al Jones and Sonny Liston than Huricane Jackson ever did. At least 20 odd times he went down even though a much smaller percentage of his bouts were competitively matched than most contenders.

Jackson may have been a crackpot, but the kid was matched pretty tough and was moved through the ranks against decent guys very early. Within four years he had already fought Dan Bucceroni, Bob Baker, Rex Layne, Ezzard Charles, Clarence Henry, Jimmy Slade, Nino Valdes, Charlie Norkus and beat most of them.

By comparison, Williams had a Billy fox kind of record. Guys with names like graveyard Walters, candy McDaniels and Baby booze made him look good. Everybody fought one Baby Booze type. Williams fought about 40 of them. But that's ok. He was groomed by influential managers that way in order to navigate his way into a big payday but it took him a few times, each time he got that pay day he was back to that level. so he went back to that circuit after each set back. There are a lot of guys like that. Nothing wrong with that. Just don't put him too far ahead of Guys who actually beat #1 contenders.

Do you guys remember in 2009 when chokelab admitted on the forum he only joined because he was a sonny Liston hater and wanted to tear down Liston and his opposition?

    I guess things haven’t changed

I never said that. This is a total myth. This business of me tearing down Liston (who I have not mentioned) gets thrown around each time I post something true about Williams that totally stands up. You do realise Williams is another person?

If what I say about Williams didn’t stand up, then nobody brings up the “Liston hater” myth that I have been refuting for as many years I have been here. This liston hater myth has become the turd that won’t flush. It’s a bit of a low blow to bring it up each time you get stumped.

You do realise that apart from Liston every single one of the opponents you've referenced fought Williams when he was either younger than Jackson when he turned pro or older than Jackson when he retired?

    I never noticed that tidbit.

Williams was pretty good for a spell. When they were rated, He gave Terrell and Machen all they could handle - without beating either of them.

Baker was #1 when when Jackson beat him.
