Well on tuesday last week I went and sparred 5 rounds and halfway through my thumb really started to hurt. I took off my gloves and it looked fine. But when I got home my thumb had a purple bump on it and was swollen. I iced a few times that day and teh next until it went down and stayed down. by sunday it was feeling really well so of course I go to the gym and spar again and the first punch with my left hand it starts to hurt again. By the time the sparring was over it was back to where it started....

Any idea of what this injury is I cannot bend my thumb alll the way down like I can with the other one and if I try to force it down it hurts like hell and I can't do it.

So I would like to know if anyone knows what it is and why it happened to the same thumb again.

Sounds like you need to go to the doc. Lay off of it for a while until you know what the problem is. If you are going to do any boxing, wrap it extra.

could be a break...or maybe just a sprain!!!!!!! those sprains r BAD...sounds like maybe ur tendon or something might be swollen...do NOT push it and do nething that hurts it when u do the activity. might take a month or so...if after a week or 2 it's still messed up, try going to the doctor. another thing that helped me a lot is soak it is hot water while u massage it and move it around. it will be sore afterwards but it's a good sore. take time for it to heal!!!
