Hurting power of Pacquiao puts Mayweather in fear of KO

Joshua Clottey trainer Lenny "The Locksmith" DeJesus does not buy the notion that Floyd Mayweather put the kibosh on fighting Manny Pacquiao because of a disagreement over random blood testing.
DeJesus, 64, a veteran of 75 world championship bouts dating back to the 15 rounds or less era, told me Wednesday he is convinced Mayweather dodged fighting Pacman out of simple fear.
"It's two things with Mayweather," DeJesus said from the Clottey training camp in Fort Lauderdale. "One thing is his precious undefeated record. Floyd doesn't want to lose that. Let me be blunt, I think he rejected a Manny fight because he wants to make sure he stays undefeated and because he's worried that he could get knocked out.
"If not for those worries then, why wouldn't Floyd take the fight and, whatever happens in the fight, he goes to the bank laughing with $40 million?"
DeJesus thinks Mayweather should not worry so much about protecting his unbeaten status.
"Fans don't care about all that. Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali and Wilfredo Gomez, who I worked with, they all lost but they came back to win. I just think Mayweather had an eerie feeling that Manny Pacquiao could take him out. Like Joe Louis said, you can run but you can't hide and he could run against Manny all night.
"Floyd could be jumping around like a jackal but somewhere in the fight he would feel Manny's power and that's what boxing is all about, hurting power. That's the game of boxing."
DeJesus injected a little humor into the situation.
"I thank three people for Joshua getting this (March 13) bout against Manny," DeJesus said.
"First, I thank Freddie Roach for taking the fight. Second, I thank Manny for taking the fight. Third, I've got to thank Mayweather for not taking the fight."

DeJesus worked six different bouts in Megamanny's corner as a cutman when promoter Murad Muhammad was handling the fighter but then got cut adrift when Shelly Finkel and Gary Shaw moved in on Manny and Murad walked the promotional plank.
"I feel good, I feel confident about this fight," DeJesus said. "I like Freddie Roach, we go back to when he was the bucket boy for Eddie Futch. Freddie hit the jackpot with Manny in a way I never did with one fighter.
"But we'll see in Dallas, at the end of the day, who's done the better job of preparing his fighter, me or Freddie. Joshua didn't have that extra oomph he needed to beat (Miguel) Cotto but I was in a different role then.
"The (training camp) environment wasn't right for that fight but that was then and now is now."
And Fight Night at Cowboys Stadium is inching closer.

This is not surprising. This is like the 18th or so article where a respectable critic says the same thing.

ALL objective opinionated / non-bias boxing critic , media, journalists - basically "in the know" have no doubt in their minds on how obvious the stunt that Floyd did just to avoid the fight.

    Cocktoo...

You are obviously a ****ing ****** with no reading comprehension. Nothing you say in regard to May-Pac is remotely credible outside of Pacland.

He needs to worry about manny and manny only if he wishes to pull off the upset.

If Mayweather was confident of winning, he'd have fought Pacquiao. Even if Pacquiao was full of PED's, if Mayweather thought he'd win, he'd have fought him. It's as simple as that.

  8. That 64 Year Old **** is just as dumb as the younger *******s. He believes in the big complex conspiracy on mayweather dodging. But he doesn't see the simple **** about Manny being scared to take the test in fear of getting caught using. This is the definite ******* symptom. If you ask a ******* why manny didn't take the test, you will never get the answer.

If he is scared its not cus of power to hurt cus Mosley has that and well they are fighting.....and it goes the same for losing his 0.

Im not buying he was forced because he could have fought anyone out there at welter or Jr W.

He's not in charge any more though. When he asked GBP to pay his debt, they became his matchmakers and promoters. If they chose for him to fight Mosley, he either accepts it or gets sued for breach of contract, forcing him to pay back $5m to GBP and even worse, he wouldn't be able to fight in the time the lawsuit was happening and that can take over a year to be settled, especially if GBP were vindictive and slowed it down.

Whichever way you look at it, Mayweather was backed into a corner.

Outside of ESB and Floyd's circle of friends/fans that is the real deal.
And Jack, I haven't seen anyone here answer that question.

Yeah, I know. I don't think they have an answer, honestly.

The only way I could see PED's being a factor for Mayweather, is if he thought Pacquiao had not taken them before but thought he would against himself. If you look at it from that perspective, then I could see why Mayweather would be wary but these accusations come from the DLH and Hatton fight. Mayweather and his team think Pacquiao has used PED's since then, but they remain confident. If that is the case, why not just fight a guy who is full of steroids and make huge money beating him?

It makes no logical sense to me. I don't think Mayweather believes he can win.

I'm so tired of people calling someone with an opinion on this a ******* or ***** or whatever. Some people do fall into the catagory as fans of those people. Some just state thier opinion without being a fan of these two. It's almost like everyfight you have fans labeling anyone with an opposite opinion as a devout fan of the other. Who cares, they are gonna fight, barring a lose from either one in thier upcoming fights. It will be for 60+mil and they are gonna put on a show. Mayweather prides himself on defense and sharp precise punching. Pacman is the best I've ever seen at hitting people with perfect punches (while people are swinging and shots they don't see). Thier are openings in Pac's defense but pac hits his opponents with so many of those perfect shots that his recent opponents are scared to load up on the shots they throw at him. Floyd doesn't get hit with perfect shots though I think that changes if he fights pac. The messed up thing about it is Clottey. I think Clottey (in losing) is gonna give mayweather a good blueprint on how to beat the new WW Pacman (who is nothing like the pacman who fought marquez the second time).

Mosley doesn't have the volume and angles to go with his power. Pac does. I'd also rate Pac a pace faster to deliver them.
