This fight tells us more about Taylor than it does about Hutchinson. Willy showed against Richards and Jeffers that at that level he's hard to beat and performs well but Buatsi exposed the ceiling and more importantly showed where he can be hurt. The question isn't whether Hutchinson can be competitive, we know he can. It's whether Taylor is operating at Buatsi level or somewhere below it right now. Personally I have no clue, so the slight edge has to go with the experienced fighter. In many ways it mirrors the main event - Franklin has shown he's durable against Whyte and Joshua, so if Moses blows him out the hype has to be considered real, and if not, less so.
I agree with some of this but not the Hutchinson ceiling being shown in the Buatsi fight - in fact quite the opposite. I felt that Hutchinson lets himself down conditioning wise and had he been in the correct shape his skill and speed allow him to be a real force. Looking at the tape I think Taylor is nowhere near as sharpe as Hutchinson and could be a rude awakening for him.
Hutchinson is certainly not putting on an act, he's always been the same. He doesn't care what he says, always super confident and slightly unhinged but to me comes across as a bit of a laugh, not to be taken too seriously, character.
Well next time on talksport he can make Jordan eat humble pie. He said he would outclass Taylor and he did, very good display of sharp punching and movement. Cards were spot on.
Fair play, you called it. Hutchinson was a level above Taylor – Willy looks very comfortable at that level. I’d actually like to see him in with Yarde next.
Cheers mate - to be honest, although he won well I hoped for a little more from Hutchinson. If he wants to move to world class that is a big step up again. That wasn’t going to be a fight of the year contender.
