Who takes this? The spinks who outpointed Holmes and ripped into cooney or the solid punching ruddock who went almost 19 rounds with tyson?. Can spinks pull off another upset or does razors smash end this?

    Agreed.

He'd use that mobility and herky jerky footwork and stay away and nullify Ruddock's left hand. And Razor's defense is not going to prevent Spinks from landing that right hand consistently. You'd have to love the Futch touch above any of the multitude of trainers Ruddock went through as well. Huge advantage in the corners here.

I concur with those who pick Spinks on points. I don't think Ruddock was smart enough to figure out his awkward style and While heavyweight wasn't exactly Michael's preferred battle ground, he still had quite a bit of mobility and snap to his shots over 200 lbs. add to it the fact that Spinks was a 15 round fighter who had never been beaten or even decked prior to facing a peak Tyson in the last bout of his career and I think he has a pretty solid case for being favored

Spot on mr magoo.spinks to crafty I believe. He proved himself over 15round s a few time so durable. Can see spinks battling through this to a unanimous

I'm not as convinced at other on Spinks winning this fight. I could see it, and it certainly could happen, but I could Razor just as good of a chance really

Pre Tyson Ruddock stops Spinks in a round or 2. He would freeze up, afraid of Razor's power just like he did against Tyson. Stupid people, you know most of you people here get so excited over Spinks beating a old Larry Holmes ( He lost both fights actually but white boxing world didn't want Holmes a black fighter to be 49-0 and then 50-0). Larry was old and couldn't bang. Gerry Cooney was a coke head doing that time. That is the only 2 real heavyweights Spinks beat.

You doubt Spinks on the premise that he beat washed up men. What kind of men did Ruddock beat ?

I tend to think Spinks would stop Ruddock. I can't get the images of Bonecrusher and Lewis nailing him with right hands out of my head.

Besides your dad? Razor wasn't a great fighter either and show me where I said he was. I said Spinks beat a 900 year old Holmes in 2 fights most sane boxing fans think he lost and he beat a drugged out overrated Cooney. The fact that Razor wasn't blown out in less than 1 round by Tyson like Spinks did proves who is the tougher fighter and who was the better fighter at heayweight (Not pound for pound fighter).

I never accused you of calling anyone "great" and I don't know what the reference to my Dad was all about. The second fight against Holmes is widely accepted as a robbery but Michael legitimately won the first. And that 35 year old version of Holmes was better than any fighter Ruddock ever defeated. Losing to Tyson in one round has nothing to do with the cost of bacon. That pre-Douglas version of Tyson was the best we ever saw. Spinks was coming off a layoff and in the last fight of his career. To be clear, I acknowledge that it's possible Ruddock might have beaten Spinks but not for the reasons you provided or because of the comparisons you've made.

Spinks was not a SHW giant...certainly not a one punch k.o artist. Ruddock had no problems with shorter guys and certainly Spinks would not have the fire power to keep Ruddock off him. Cooney was winning the Spinks fight before he wasted to many punches and started to gas and open up defensively .

Ruddock doesnt do that and has a booming fast left hook and right uppercut. Holmes also won the second fight and was injured in the first Spinks fight, and was still rocking him with jabs. Ruddock would do a Tyson on him but spinks probably lasts 3 or 4 rnds before he gets clipped.
