I always wonder if the Klitschkos should not change their approach when it comes to matchmaking, after all they have been enable to land most of the fights the public wants to see. As of now Wlad is already saying opponents don`t want to fight him, Vitali just set up another mismatch, is it really cowardness or a matter of money? It`s a fact that K2 already has a set monetary figure generated in each of their fights independently from the opponent and they consider unfair having to share this money, considering it`s all from their good work. Now, what if the Klitschkos change tactic? try to generate the public interest by interacting with the process? setting up a race between selected contenders, letting the world know of it and offering a set percentage of the total revenue to the winner, voted so by the public at klitschko.com? Wouldn`t it bring much more exposure overall? creating enough demand to make it worthwhile financially and legacy wise? The idea right now is for Wlad, as it fits him perfectly at the moment. His camp should let names like Arreola, Adamek, Pulev, Fury, Wach, Helenius, Solis, Povetkin and Boysov know that if they beat some ABCs top 15 rated opponent till september they can land a fight with Wlad for all his belts, 20% of the total revenue with a US$ 2 million guarantee. After all these fighters are aware of it then go to the media and let the world know of it. At the end of september when some of the fighters have competed, then the public chooses who among them did best as far as matchup/performance and deserves to get the late November date against Wlad. Does this sound like a good idea? I believe it`s a simple, cheap idea that may set up even more then just one fight.
It's a good idea, but guys like Arreola would rather sneak a title like Potvetkin did and wait for the K2 retirement when suddenly HW boxing will be at it's highest level since the 70s. Then, whoever are the titlists can become the earners BWO HBO/Showtime/Epix, etc. They are already in a sweepstakes, that's why they keep turning down the shot at a K2...hoping sooner rather than later, they'll retire and instantly become a relevant contender.
