Why the **** do heavyweight contenders these days go for an undefeated record, not fight any other contenders, fringe contenders or gate keepers, its like they fight cans/journymen untill the k2 need a new opponent.

why dont They fight the likes of Ruiz, Tua, Holyfield, Barrat, McCall, Grant, Chagaev, Rahman or Briggs. You can count on 1 hand how many times the top 30 have faced each other.

The only guy I actualy rate at the moment is Chisora, question His behavior outside the ring all you like, atleast He tries to fight the best guys He can, I would love Perez (my guilty pleasure) to fight Him.

How many of these 'Prospects' would fall at the first hurdle of taking a tough fight.

it's the promoters fault, they think that if their fighter goes 25-30 fights undefeated by fighting bums, then K2 will give them a title shot/paycheck

maybe once the bros retire, the young guns will start to fight each other, possibly some the WBC or some other organisation may make a HW tourney for their HW belts

Well there aren't many, but their are some exceptions. But for the most part your right.
    Helenius: Peter, Chisora, Liakhovich, Brewster
    Povetkin: Byrd, Chagaev, Chambers
Chambers: Dimintrenko, Peter, Povetkin, Adamek, and almost Thompson(injury)

It's pretty sad that whenever any of the top rated fighters in the division fight someone other then a Klitschko, your more likely to have never heard of their opponent. The only thing this accomplishes is, that since these fighters are unlikely to lose any of their fights, eventually all the top rated guys will fight a Klitschko at some point. With some even getting a 2nd try at a Klitschko by repeating the process.

I like the way Helenius was managed, having been fed 3 former world champs, then a big fight with Chisora, maybe if he ever rebuilds himself from that injury he'll beat more quality opposition

Yeah props to Adamek, Povetkin, Helenius and Chambers for taking a few more chances then the other contenders out there, even if these guys also fight cans every other fight or so.

But keep in mind that with the exception of Chambers, these boxers are protected and decisions go their way. It's easier to take a chancy fight if you know you have the home field advantage.

The more embarrassing ones are Arreola and Boystov who now hang onto their Ring rankings by fighting cans periodically, waiting for the K2 pay-day.

Props to Chisora too--he was supposed to be another Helenius victim but Gsora schooled the dude, and then arrived in even better condition to put a scare on Vitali.
