Yes, it's taken years and I am not done yet. I just started 1998 with all the other weight classes.

I have each boxer, there weight class(es), when they were 1st rated, when they were last rated, the months they were rated and there highest ratings. Like I stated before, some years had more then 12 issues and 1 year, had only 4.

The only time Botha could have been rated was back in 1996 or 1997 and I just checked again, and his name doesn't appear anywhere.

Credit where it's due. Solid effort.

Did solis not get in the month before he fought vitali? I was sure he was rated at the time of the fight ya know.

I dont doubt you for a minute HH, but does this mean that Botha was IBF champ yet wasnt top 10 rated by any of the organisations?

Here's all the Heavyweights Holyfield faced that were rated in the top 10 at one time or another.

    Evander Holyfield
Tillis, Thomas, Dokes, Rodrigues, Douglas, Foreman, Cooper, Holmes, Bowe (x3), Moorer (x2), Mercer, Tyson (x2), Lewis (x2)*, Ruiz (x3)**, Rahman, Byrd, Toney, Oquendo, Ibragimov, Valuev*, Ossie Ocasio, Larry Donald, Alex Stewart (2) & Carlos DeLeon.

He fought 24 different Heavyweights that were rated in the top 10 at one time or another, a total of 32 times

Other top 10 contenders he fought but weren't as Heavyweights are:
    Davis
    Qawi (2)
    Tillman
    Parkey
    Czyz

So he fought 29 different Opponents that were rated in the top 10 at one time or another, for a total of 38 times.

So 2/3 or 66.7% of his 57 fights were against fighters that were rated in the top 10 at one time or another. He is 4th on the all-time Heavyweight list, only behind Ali, Louis & Charles. Ali has a % of over 80% (80.33%).

I am going by the Ring Magazine Ratings and none of those were ever rated in the top 10 by them. They might have been by the IBF, WBA, WBC or WBO but not by Ring.

PS - Holyfield is actually #4 on the all-time list if your counting the Heavyweight Champions that fought other top 10 contenders in other weight classes. Ali, Louis, Charles and then Holyfield.

your breakdowns are fantastic, I just want to note one key difference.

A fight happening in another weight class doesn't count for me. i.e. patterson v maxim, Holyfield v De leon etc.

I only count title holders and top 10 ring ranked fighters when I do the resume breakdowns.

Both Maxim and DeLeon were rated at one time or another as Heavyweights.

yes they were, but patterson fought maxim as a lhw and holyfield fought de leon as a cruiser weight. see what I mean?

I don't believe a LHW fight should count towards a HW resume.
