Awesome thread: Dillian Whyte vs Mike Weaver: Weaver late KO (close one I favor Weaver to get him)----Weaver KOs Lyle--- Ron Lyle vs Joe Joyce: Lyle KO Joyce (Joe would not want to bang w/ Lyle)------------Lyle loses to Weaver Tex Cobb vs Herbie Hide: Cobb KO Hide (ultra tough vs. ultra shaky)-----------Cobb loses to Ortiz James Smith vs Luis Ortiz: Ortiz UD Smith (easy work)----------Ortiz beats Cobb KO-------Ortiz UD Weaver Ortiz UD Weaver (bracket winner) Bracket 2: Shannon Briggs vs Samuel Peter: Briggs TKO Peter (easy work)----Briggs loses to Williams (close one) Cleveland Williams vs Luis Firpo: Williams KO Firpo (easy work)----Williams KO Briggs Razor Ruddock vs Alexander Povetkin: Povetkin UD Ruddock (too much skill)----Povetkin UD Foster Buddy Baer vs Mac Foster: Mac Foster KOs Baer---Foster loses to Povetkin Povetkin UD Williams (bracket winner) Finals Povetkin vs. Ortiz toss up between Povetkin and Ortiz, but I think Ortiz would beat him via UD or find a bomb and put him out. I find this one difficult in general as I find Povetkin and Ortiz to be a fair big above the other contenders here as far as boxing goes with Cleveland Williams being the third most skilled with some distance. I could see Briggs taking out anyone but Povetkin or Ortiz. Ruddock would struggle. Hide should be replaced with David Tua probably. Luis Ortiz is my slugger champ of this tourney.
You have a lot of confidence in Ortiz, but this honestly isn't a bad take and is possible. He's very skilled with a sledgehammer left and good accuracy. I think a few of the boxers could potentially outwork him given his age if they're careful.
I think he's a big guy, skilled, and can sleep anyone given the right day and doesn't have a huge glaring weakness like a lot of the other guys, I'd put Povetkin as the favorite probably. I think Williams and Briggs could both do it, too. Just depends. But if everyone is in form and doing their best, I think Ortiz is a dangerous fight for anyone. I just wonder what Ortiz at 29/30 years old fighting top guys would look like. Never really got to see him in his prime at the top level, though, unfortunately. I'm not mad at any prediction honestly, it's a cool thread.
