Tyson Fury Dillian Whyte 1) Deontay Wilder 2) Andy Ruiz 3) Joe Joyce 4) Luis Ortiz 5) Joseph Parker 6) Michael Hunter 7) Agit Kabayel 8) Efe Ajagba 9) Filip Hrgovic 10) Tony Yoka 11) Frank Sanchez 12) Arslanbek Makhmudov 13) Derek Chisora 14) Martin Bakole 15) Charles Martin Theres no Dubois but at least It has a sense compared to WBA one imo. Thoughts?
Agit Kabayel has no business in the top 10 heavyweights. He isn't a top 10 heavyweight. I'd remove him from the top 15 entirely and include someone like Helenius.
Good pick. However I noticed the guy Is ranked high in several rankings: he is 8th for the IBF, 12th for the WBO and 7th for the WBA. Something strange.
You're right, it better than the WBA rankings. I wish those guys from #2 to #15 would fight each other. Many interesting matchups could be made, but they won't do it. At least we'll see Ajagba vs Sanchez.
Missing Usyk & Hellenius, Ortiz is probably too high, Agit Kabayel is.....there. Miles better than WBA.
Usyk and Dubois aren't listed because they are already rated number 1 by other organizations. Dubois=WBA and Usyk=WBO. In fact you will never find a fighter rated number one in one organization, ranked in another organization in any weight class.
if that's true, it stinks, but shouldn't surprise anyone. you only have to look at how german hometown fighters can/use to win a belt and never have a mandatory against the big players fighting in the US at anytime, ever, to know that something is rotten and deals have been made.
It's true. Check out the rankings page of your favorite fight news site and check for yourself. It's a ridiculous system. Like, imagine in college basketball Duke could only be ranked number 1 in the AP Poll but not the Coaches Poll. My best guess is that it's because once an organization ranks a fighter number 1 it's almost like they become the property of that org. Like If John Doe is number 1 in the IBF, the rest of the federations know that he will be fighting for that title soon so won't be available to the other orgs. These rankings are all too often looked at as "The Top Ten Fighters" in each division, which couldn't really be further from the truth. Lists of ten you see on here have more credibility because there are no limitations. Also, some fighters refuse to work with sort orgs. Or, they had been champions of an org. in the past and was stripped of the title, or elected to drop the title on their own accord. I mean, nobody can look at a WBA ranking in any weight divisions and say with a straight face that those are the best fighters in the world at that weight class.
I'm a little confused by this as currently Usyk = WBO #1 + WBA #2 I seem to remember that Povetkin might have been #1 in two rankings when he fought Joshua. Add to that wasn't Whyte previously #1 WBC and highly ranked by both WBO and IBF not so long ago. I do gather they don't rank each others belt holders though.
Other than Kabayel and Bakole it is a surprisingly good top 15 (for a governing body) I am actually shocked
They are still the old rules of the federations. I read that they want to introduce a rule to make a fighter appear in all federation rankings and they also want to eliminate all those ridiculous and useless secondary belts that are attributed to boxers placed better after the keeper.
Yeah, I confused the rule. A champion in one division isn't ranked in the other. Somewhere along the line that flipped to number 1 contender in my mind. My bad.
Ratings are not that bad , but boxers don't want to fight in a competitive matches .Most of them barely fight once a year Heavyweight scene is in lockdown.
