Hygiene in the boxing gym? My workout partner is VILE, and ODIOUS!

    Ok, so check this out. . . My main sparring partner/workout partner at my boxing gym always stinks. . . Sometimes (on the worst days) he smells like butt sweat, but he ALWAYS has HORRIBLE B.O. . I mean, it's unbearable. . .

    I'm not that close with him, but one of his friends cracked a joke on him about stinking, and I overheard him say "Man, I don't know what to do, it's my clothes, I tried washing them twice"!

    Then I noticed he was right - the days he will smell like butt sweat (combination of shite, and B.O.) are the days when he wears the same shorts. . . Those same damn pair of shorts (he must have taken a shite without wiping or something one day before working out hard in them, and the sweat just permanently infused with the shite). . .

    ANd of course, literally ALL of his shirts REEK of horrible B.O.

    I know how he can get rid of the odor (soak overnight in vinegar, and then wash in special brand of detergent), but I don't want to be rude and say something to him? I just don't know him on a personal level like that? I'd offer to give him some of my detergent!

    Have you ever trained/sparred someone with **** breath?

    That's why I see some validity in Povetkin's comments re Huck...

    Well theres no easy way of telling someone they smell but considering your in a boxing gym where people do tend to sweat I think your over reacting

    When I was training we all did drills doing situps/pressups and it was a constant thing about some of the lads farting whilst doing it, to be honest everyone in the gym just burst out laughing, its part and parcel my friend

    However if it is that bad just mention it to the dude saying he sweats too much and ask him to use some Anti perspirant, you dont ask you dont get

    Yup. . . Luckily none of the guys I spar with have chronic halitosis

    My gym is small, so there are only one, or two guys around my size. . So we always do ab work together. . It's unavoidable.

    Ive read some boxers don't wash at all during camps for this very reason it puts their opponents off.

    Lol oh yeah, it's a boxing gym, and not a formal tuxedo occasion. . . We;re all dudes .. Well, there's one bull dyke. . . But I mean this isn't just sweating, it's PERMANENTLY INFUSED in his clothes! And I always do ab work with him, and spar with him majority of hte time. . .

    I guess it's really not THAT big of a deal. . . But sometimes it really does sting the nostrils. . .

    In grappling, I remember we had a unspoken rule in the gym about folks who don't wash their gi's. They either go and wash it ASAP or stay out of the gym.

    i really feel for you dude.. i only spar with a select few friends and we all are hygienic .. actually my mate always tells me i smell good when we are in a clinch .... not sure if homo...

    Lol yeah this dude's got so bad, it became permanently infused! Regular washing won't get it out. . .

    I know a remedy to get the smells out. . . Maybe I should start talking to him more, get to know him for a week or two. . THen just kinda jokingly (but seriously too) tell him he stinks, and how to get it out. . .

    If he's cool guy I'd say everybody chip in for new shorts and shirt. If he's not, kick him out until he shapes up.

    The fight business attracts some really poor people sometimes. You shouldn't have to soak clothes in vinegar to get the stink out :lol: a simple wash should do. Maybe he's broke as hell with no washer/dryer living on his buddies couch, I dunno.

    you could just get the gym owner to talk to him.. if someones allready brought it up with him then tell him to suggest things to get rid of it... or just buy some new ****ing shorts
