In the interest of fairness and transparency I thought Moses Itauma would beat Hrgovic, however I was rooting against him.

over the last couple weeks it has been interesting seeing the reactions of Itauma v Hrgovic and it to me at least can be only explained by a high level of schadenfreude for fans and pundits who were riding high on the Itauma train.

I can understand a lot of it as Moses was being made out to be the next Mike Tyson, a future undisputed heavyweight king, the reason Usyk vacated his belts.

It is very enjoyable to watch fans and pundits eat crow after such lofty claims they made him out to be almost destined to accomplish with ease. Especially after he lost due to a lack of conditioning on his end.

I do feel however that in the revelry of Hrgovic who is a entertaining and charismatic person winning his title against the young perhaps cocky youngster that it has created a narrative around the fight that just isn’t true.

Like that Hrgovic was completely in control the whole time when he was drastically behind on all scorecards and suffered a knockdown.

That Hrgovic was about to knock Itauma out cold when Itauma was still defending and collapsed from exhaustion not a punch.

That Itauma was found out as not good when he was winning the entire fight comfortably and displayed great hand speed and punch selection with very good technique.

This isn’t a cope post, as I stated I was rooting against Itauma because he’s boring as paint drying personally wise but I want to be objective and I feel many are just happy in Itauma losing than actual boxing.

    But maybe I’m missing something.

I look forward to your thoughts.

I told everyone that he was not what they were hyping and that there is something wrong with the guy. I was proven right. That is all.

arguing about the obvious is silly, unless the obvious just aint that obvious to your analytical ability. wasnt much mystery to what happened, it was plain to see right in front of you. they are both still the same people they were before the fight, neither became elite or a bum because of how it played out. its just **** that happens in boxing.

Unfortunately for many fans this is not true.

I wonder if the boxing fandom was always a all or nothing mindset or if a particular fight changed that.

its different now. people get instantly emotional over stuff they think they have some type of connection with. most men outgrow the hysterics as they age, but some never do. i think a lot of it has to do with growing up on the internet. i had been an adult for a while before the internet became common and i remember how the way men behaved changed. the differences in how men and women behave and react started to disappear. thats probably why so many raised on the internet are so confused about who they are today. but who knows, it could be the hormones in everything we eat now, but whatever it is, it aint like it used to be 30 years ago.

It doesn't matter if you win 8 rounds if you almost get killed in the 9th and leave on a stretcher. It is a 12 round fight, a marathon not a sprint.

Itauma was not even close to the finish. He still had 30-odd seconds left in the 9th, then the full 10th, 11th and 12th. The tide had been turning against him since the 3rd. It was not just a pacing or engine problem, he lacks many attributes.

I think Itauma is a good fighter btw, better than a prime Haye.

You call that piece of sh!t behind the neck pull down a knock down? Says a lot about the rest of your post if you're that comfortable with lying

Man look Iguana got hit with a HORRIFIC body shot in the 8th thats when his whole body went limp like a wet noodle and he couldn't hold his arms up all through the 9th just dangling his arms looking like an octopus on dry land.... That was all because of a PUNCH... NOT from exhaustion!! Don't listen to those stupid british pride commentators trying to save face for their country "I've never seen someone so knackered before!!" meanwhile Itauma is getting pummeled all over his body and head all over the ring!!

I really don't get why this has been such a debate... or what there even is to debate?

A guy was over hyped and lost, the odds / predictions and the result tell that story, there is no debate. Hrgovic isn't the best heavyweight in the world all of a sudden, Itauma just isn't the guy many thought he is yet, and was unproven at this level.

It doesn't mean he sucks or can't reach the peak, just means he ain't there yet...as many suspected going into this fight.

That was a knockdown. Are you confusing the Zhang fight (that did have a dubious knockdown counted)?

If you are disputing that knockdown in the Ituama-Hrogovic fight, though, here is a better angle of the knockdown (7:08).

Also, even if you strongly believe that the knockdown was a pull-down, you don't have to accuse someone of lying when the average opinion on the knockdown, at least on this forum, is that the knockdown was legit.
