On a lower level sorta kinda Bobby Czyz. For whatever reason he was hyped a bit as he came thru the ranks before being "exposed" by Mustafa Hamsho. Many thought he lacked substance and wasn't much good at all. He moved up and over time had a reasonable run at 175, grabbing a strap and making some money.
Wlad was seen as an heir apparent to Lewis, but after he got KOed by Sanders and Brewster was considered an exposed hype job. He came back to be one of the greatest HW champions of all time.
I initially felt this way about Pacquiao. I wasn't a believer until he first stepped in the ring with Barrera. MAB was one of my favorite fighters at the time.
