so we either have these over protected cash cows who get matched up w/ fighters they do well against and we call them atgs b/c they have a pretty win/loss ratio

or we have taylor who fought anyone and everyone. hell the muh ****er offered wright 5 million dollars....i repeat 5 million dollars for a rematch despite being the champ...and wright refused.

taylor type guys are what boxing needs.

 

Who did ? He had a good career , achieved what 99% of fighters only dream of doing.

Tyler is one of the worst Pavlik haters on the board.

Pavlik earned the title the right way. He wasnt given some b.s. fight w/ a no hoper for a vacant title or anything like that. Kelly Pavlik is a total **** up for what he's done to himself. but he wasnt a hype job. even fought the lineal champ he dethroned in a rematch immediately after.

yeah well if every fighter had the resume taylor had we would have an entire sport filled with hype jobs.

ffs hypejobs get their ears boxed off by an atg like hopkins and a sure fire hof'er like wright. even if you think he lost all three fights they were all damn close.

you can call bute a hype job at this point since his only big fight he's ever fought he got run through like a passed out two dollar hooker. that's a far cry from giving hopkins and wright the types of fights he did. hell wright was a year removed from making tito look like an short notice sparring partner.

 

Not all fighters are going to become ATG's, not all are going to fulfil their possible potential. People now say Broner, Donaire, Canelo, etc are hypejobs, but time will tell, maybe they won't go on to achieve what they promised but HBO like any of us can't see into the future. If its not the Broners, Canelos etc that are going to be the next big thing, then who else is it going to be? Answer is, its impossible to say. Fans are a bit too harsh at times, like people above me said, Taylor and a few others mentioned had very decent careers. People probably thought Pacquaio Mayweather etc were HBO hypejobs earlier in their careers also.

 

This is why boxing is in the state it's in and why fighters won't fight each other. One loss and your a "Hype job". Where is the respect for the sport and the men who put their lives on the line inside the ring for the fans.
