Trust me a lot of fans really thought Loma was this ATG type fighter, his last few performances have sent that idea crashing down. He has struggled with B level guys, guys the legends would have destroyed imo. I agree with you he doesn’t have the names necessary to give him the resume required for him to get the status that the fan boys are already giving him. I don’t think he is the best p4p fighter but he is definitely up there top 3 no problem if someone says no.1 then that’s cool to just not an opinion I share. It’s a shame coz if he had beaten Berchelt, Tank, Garcia (before Spence decapititates him) and then moved up to take on a pac man and became undisputed at one of the weights I think he would have the names and accolades necessary to be a modern day ATG like a Floyd, Pac, Ward etc. However tank ducked him, Bob kept him away from Berchelt, Garcia I won’t say ducked him but his relationship with Bob meant he didn’t wanna do business with him. I’m curious to see how well he can do but I think at lightweight one of these guys will beat him because his style is based so much on athleticism and he is aging, getting injuries and a lot of the guys can take his power a lot better now.
I disagree, Pedraza fought a dumbass completely out of character match that night, it frustrated the hell out of me,. Tank isn't unbeatable for Pedraza or anything close to special, although he is special needs. If the Sniper fought a strict disciplined fight, he could paddle Tank's ass.
I told y'all that was going to be Tank's coming out party. Tank probably has regressed since then, but the Tank that fought Pedraza, isn't someone Pedraza can beat! Tank just hits too hard and Pedraza is there to be whacked.
you cant compare what loma did in 13 fights to any other 13 fights by any other fighter. how many fighters with world level talent decide to stay in ams as long as loma did? most would already have 20+ pro fights under their belts instead of hanging around to compete with guys they already proved they were above. lomas career path is unique and cant be compared to anyone else, so it doesnt tell us anything about any other fighter, had that fighter taken the same path loma did. loma gets lavish praise for fighting salido in his second pro fight, but he had over 400 am fights. how many fights did salido have pro and am combined when he fought loma? context is everything.
Pedraza was only there to be whacked because he fought like a mongoloid. If he fought like he fought against Loma or Beltran, he schools him.
One thing I have to say is you were right about the recent Loma hate on this forum. I've been hibernating in my cave since Stevenson was badly hurt(praying for his recovery), and the Fury/Wilder debacle. I might have to jump on the Loma defend wagon if it becomes more hate than dickriding, cause you know how I'm a me against the world type person .
Probably one of the most skills boxer of our generation. Wins 9-3 against pedraza after a surgery, and somehow gets a lower rating for it ? We know Loma doesn't possess the power tank has.... We get it. With this style of logic Joshua > Fury as Joshua TKO'd Klitch and fury only won by points ? Not every win can be as one sided as Rigo/Sosa/Walters vs Loma.... Style match-ups and off nights can falter anyone.
Let's he honest here. Loma has flipped the script. These guys have got brain confusion here. A white fighter who's "slick" and quick is garnering a lot of attention and respect as a top boxer. Usually it's been black fighters who utilize this style in the ring. And now a guy from Ukraine is befuddling people with head movement, blocked punches, counters, footwork, etc. And their brains just cannot watch this without getting irritated.
I didn't trash Pedraza. In fact the reason Davis is rated in the first place is because of his performance against Pedraza.
I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but it appears some are into revisionist history. Mayweather rarely destroyed top guys.
