I’m not a fan of mayweather, I never said mayweather destroyed top guys. He did destroy Corrales but he was a B level fighter. He schooled Canelo and he has gone on to become a p4p top fighter.
The Floyd that beat Corrales would have beat the crap out for Pedraza. Pedraza imo is not even on the level of Corrales. I said Floyd is a modern day ATG, im not of the belief that Floyd is this top 5 ATG, he has the skills but he chose top opponents when they were ripe for the picking and that counts against him for me.
I don’t think he has necessarily lost a step due to age coz he is active etc I think he is fighting heavier men and although Loma technically very good, boxing brain isn’t as good as everyone has made out imo. His trump card is his speed and athleticism, he is such a supreme athlete like Roy Jones or Pac he just overwhelms people with it. Once he slows down he will struggle a lot more than someone like a crawford who has the better boxing brain imo. This isn’t a slight on Loma coz regardless of you beat top guys with speed or with technique, if your performance is dominant that’s all I care about.
Crawford has reach, something Loma doesnt have, which means Loma will have difficulty with his style as he ages. To say Crawford has a better boxing brain is utterly asinine.
I dont think Crawford has a better ring IQ. I think hes longer and hits harder which allows him to control distance with much less effort.
Not to mention he usually has a significant weight advantage over his opponents, regardless of whether it's his first, second, or third weight class whereas Loma is usually the one at a weight disadvantage And Loma's level of opposition >>>Crawford's who is the C level assassin/king of the weight bullies And all bar one of Crawford's fights have been on home soil and he's had American refs for every single one of his fights and a ridiculous amount of American judges, whereas Loma hasn't had a single Ukrainian ref or judge for any of his fights or fought in the Ukraine. And if you don't think that matters go watch the Salido fight and ask yourself does Loma have that blemish on his record if he has a home country ref or even just a more neutral one who isn't corrupt as sin. And one of the 3 US judges for the GRJ fight inexplicably scored the fight a draw despite the fact that Loma whooped GRJ's ass. Vic Postol: ''Hey Terry, Vic Postol here.. You fancy a unification fight? I'll bring my title over to your turf and you can have an American ref and 2 or 3 American judges and I won't have a single one from my home country? Terry: ''Hi Vic, yeah that sounds good to me bro'' Jules Indongo: ''Hey Terry, I got 2 belts, fancy a unification match up? I'll bring them over to your turf and you can have an American ref and 3 American judges and I won't have a single one from my home country? Terry: Hi Jules, yeah that sounds good to me bro''
I think this is less about Loma fans (not gonna call them fanboys because my IQ is triple-digit) being hypercritical and more to do with some people latching onto a 7/10 performance and seeing the chance to attack a fighter with an amazing resume for just 13 fights. In psychology this is called Salido Syndrome...
Loma or Crawford? Loma was but Crawford wasn't. Horn weighed about 155 against Crawford, Crawford was coming in at 157 when he was down at 140 going back over 2 years ago and since his last fight at 140 he'd been working with his S&C coach adding muscle, size and just getting heavier Per his S&C coach ''We've trained harder since his last fight, putting more weight on him - good weight - putting some more muscle on him, and just getting him bigger, because we've always know he was going to have to move up in weight eventually, so that was a big part of it - just getting him heavier'' ''He has easily put on 10lbs of muscle all the while by maintaining speed and athleticism.'' At 126 Loma 134 - Koasicha 133 Loma 138 - Rodriguez 132 Loma 138½ - Russell 138 Loma 136 - Salido 147 Loma 132 - Piriyapinyo 137 Loma 129 - Ramirez 135 At 130 Loma 137 - Walters 136 Loma 139 - Sosa 142 Loma 137 - Martinez 144 Loma 137 - Rigo ? (he was 130 the morning of the fight in his tracksuit) Loma 138 - Linares? Linares was at least 146 IMO Crawford 149 - Klimov 140 Crawford 152 - Gamboa 145 Crawford 153 - Beltran 147 At 140 Crawford 155 - Lundy 151 Crawford 155 - Jean 155 Crawford 157 - Postol 152 Crawford 157 - Diaz 161 I think Molina had weight on him too but I don't know how much That Mexican peg-leg cripple Crawford fought last time out was definitely bigger than him though, the one who was lighting him up when he could manage to hobble into range
