The inevitable comparisons of greatness with SRR would have started, especially considering the great plaudits Tommy got after decimating Duran. He would have been in a position to potentially push for GOAT honors, tho he'd have to blaze a damn good trail from there forward. Without the gruelling Hagler stoppage i think he might have got past guys like Roldan a teeny bit easier. Almost certainly SRL would have lined up at some point. Under these hypothetical circumstances i think Hearns would have taken him at 160. Interesting scenario.

Sometimes i think that if hearns had landed on the point of the chin that hearns could have stopped him. There should have been a rematch and i think it would have gone to points to tommy in 86.
But hagler really showed his greatness in that fight,as did tommy.
Any other fighter in middleweight history who tried to rush tommy like that would end up as history face down...
Sometimes the margin between winning and losing is very slight, and i think regardless of the result tommy is up there with robinson, ali and others talent wise...

leonard would not have wanted anything to do with hearns if he had of won that fight by any ways or means. leonard only fought hagler because hagler was on the slide

he waited until hearns showed that he was on teh shot side before taking a rematch

I think if the punch he hit Hagler with had been a couple inches lower he would have kayoed him. Hearns would be in the top ten pound for pound.

I tend to think if Hagler had been caught by the perfect punch by Hearns, and been knocked down, he would have got back up and survived the round. The guy had one of the best chins in middleweight history for goodness sake. The knockdown would have made the Hitman even bolder (he didn't need much encouragement) and he would have got chopped down in the continuing slugfest around rounds 5 or 6. Peace !

It raises his ATG status a couple of notches, not much though.
