Name match-ups for Cuevas that you would favor him to win a decision.

    Armando Muniz
    Adolfo Viruet
    James Buddy McGirt

    Hector Camacho Sr.

Camacho would run, hold, run, hold, run, hold, and lose a decision.

Margarito, can take a beating & survive.
Frankie Randall, Marlon Starling, Mickey Ward.
These fighter are good, but without the huge punch. and yet are active enough to keep Cuevas from loading up and land his huge power punches. & all have pretty good chins, well enough to survive the occasional big punch.

Cuevas would have to knock him out i cant see him winning a decision over Benitez.

@ Thread stealer so far Camacho was the best call, and i like your reason. Camacho would definitely be on the run too much to win a significant amount of rounds.

Aaron Davis had a great chin, but he wouldnt have done enough to beat Cuevas on a decision.

Jose L Lopez-Pipino Cuevas were to huge bombers but i can see this going the distance .. Lopez had an amazing chin, but he was to lazy and would get outworked by Cuevas.

I think Pipino Cuevas vs Wilfred Benitez makes for a great match.

Pipino's early round dominance, over Wilfred's later round generalship.

Wilfred would win a 12 or 15 round fight.
    Pipino a 10-round bout.

I agree thats another one that goes one way or the other... Either Pipino is sending him into dream land. Or Buddy frustrates him and wins a decison..

Another fighter someone mentioned was Simon Brown... Simon could box but he was more puncher and i guarantee hed engage Cuevas in a shootout which would spell doom for Simon:dead

I'm thinking Starling would have beat Cuevas pretty badly. This is a bad style matchup for Cuevas.

I agree i think Starling would outbox Cuevas, but for as tough as Ward was i cant see him lasting with Cuevas he just gets hit too much and would eventually cave in against one of the greatest punchers ever.

Ward is also the naturally smaller fighter, and his idea of defense was to let himself get punched until his opponenet got arm-weary. Easy ko for Cuevas.

OH,,You mean like Harold Weston Jr. and Bruce Curry not touching Wilfred.

1976/1977/1978,,,,,,,That Pipino would have crashed at least one left hook on Wilfred.

Even Ray Leonard was not so sure on taking on Pipino.
Listen to him, when announcing the Cuevas vs. Harold Volbrecht fight.
