De la Hoya via 7-3 type of decision...Miguel probably hits the deck once or twice but the fight slows down late as both gas, with Oscar cruising to victory. Antonio Cervantes vs Carlos Ortiz @ 140.
Answer these (all prime unless otherwise stated)....... Hatton vs Cotto @ 140 DLH vs Buchanan Lewis (Rahman II) vs Foreman (Frazier)
I like Cervantes to win a decision 9-6 or so in a nice fight..never thought about this one a whole lot before, nice call. Vicente Saldivar vs Salvador Sanchez
Cotto (although I would probably cheer for Hatton and I like both guys) DLH (although I would cheer for Buchanan) Foreman
Sanchez would stop Saldivar late in a competetive but brilliant win. Sanchez tko 11 Mark Johnson vs Jung koo Chang at 112
All of Johnsons slipping wouldn't help him: Chang would swarm him to win a ultra competitive decision. Johnson would land his own nice shots, but I can't see him maintaining a good enough punch output against Chang. No ones getting dropped or stopped here: two fighters I think highly of.
I think Chang is around the 2nd or 3rd best AT fighter under 112 but in a HTH matchup i dont think anyone beats Johnson he was very fast and hit very hard at 112 i can see him winning this he would land the harder punches and definitly get Changs respect possibly stopping him late but Chang was very durable so ill go with Johnson by decision 116-113 or 116-112. Pat Cowdell vs Chris John
I go with Johnson too...but it would be tight and likely controversial. Something about Johnson makes me feel Chang would give him the fits something fierce. I think its because he tends to be a little flat footed setting himself...reckon Chang could exploit that with his whirlwind attacks. Big Too sharp fan though. John vs Cowdell would be a pretty drawn out technical affair...Id favour John in a close decision but not really sure why. I think he is a little bit quicker of hand and foot..Pat was cagey though, with a great jab. No way Chris could do a Nelson job on him...so if the fights settles in for a long one then it really could go either way.
Rather than start a new thread, I'll bump the proper thread to pose two new fights that've been buzzing around in my head recently. Johnny Tapia vs Gerry Penalosa at 122 lbs 12 rounds Eddie Mustafa Muhammad vs Michael Moorer at 175 lbs 12 rounds
122 I must say Arriba seems like a strange weight..as both were at their best at 115. Ill go with Johnny anyway. EMM late stoppage...better technician, nothing to suggest he wouldnt be able to handle Moorer's power and there were serious question marks about the stamina of Moorer at that stage. Jose Medal vs Lupe Pintor @ 118
I think Pintor's constant pressure, inside technique, and precise punching would carry him to a decision after a competitive, hard-fought battle. Ismael Laguna vs. Jose Legra @feather.
I dont recall Oscar ever gassing early on in his career and he would ko Cotto no doubt about it. Hell even at 147 he would and Cotto had a better chin at Welter than at JW.
