IF (note the big IF) Pacman were willing to take on Cotto at 147 and take take the WBO welter weight belt from him. Would this be enough to shut up everyone who says he isn't pound for pound king? Would beating Cotto at his weight thus winning a belt in yet another weight class get him into a top 40 or 30 in ATG? These are just hypothetical, but I'd like to know all you who seem to hate Pacman out there (or his fans...) what it would take to give him some credit. Now play nice.
hmm says... stfu & gtfo noob! nah I'm just playing... some ppl have chilled a bit after Hatton, but if they don't shut up after Cotto with your hypo then something is wrong. No doubt if he beats Cotto, we'll have ppl still criticizing and trying to discredit his accomplishment(s).... ie. "he hasn't faced an afro-american."
Beating Cotto for him would be an achievement but Cotto aint the best welterweight out there in my opinion and Pacquiao needs to beat Mayweather to gain my respect and until he does that this pound for pound title nonsense is bogus. ***gots who sit in their office decides who is pound for pound number 1 and as far as Im concerned until he beats Mayweather Pacman is just pound for pound on paper for beating a slow as bum in Diaz, a weight drained De La Hoya and a no defense Hatton. The only win I actually give him real credit for is Hatton even though Hatton was tailor made to make Pacquiao look better than he actually is and also I give him credit for the Oscar win coz there was no guarantee that Oscar was meant to mess up the weight but it all worked out lovely for Mr Roach so as long as he doesn't make other fighters drain themselves to fight Pac then I can respect Pac's wins Out of all the 140lbs or fighters that could possibly fight at 140 Hatton was the weakest link, he was just on paper supposedly the best at 140lbs but real people who know boxing know that this is bull**** coz he aint unified nothing so he aint ****. Bradley Funeka Campbell Holt Guzman Judah Need I say anymore !!!
If Pacquiao beat Cotto he will go down as one of the best ever. I'm talking about side by side with Ali and SRRobinson. We are talking about a featherweight here beating up on true welterweight.
I dont hate him but i want him to see him fighters who are not taylormade for his style, example, hatton was taylor made, oscar was death at 147, david diaz was taylor made, i call taylor made for pac fighters whom defense is his offense, fighter who goes straight forward, with no good defense just like hatton and diaz, and it doesnt matter how hard the other fighter punches, the style still will be taylor made for pac, last time he fought a different style(jmm) counter defensive even he wasnt very good defensive he didnt walk throw pac punches what happened? pac struggled, now that he is a big star, arum is making him safe to put him in front of fighters who style doesnt match up well with pacquiao, i do think cottos style is taylor made for pacman thats why arum and roach wants this fight, they know this, i want pacman to take challenges with different styles of fighters... Compare with jmm after the pac fight, he went for casamayor whose style wasnt taylor made for him thats why he struggled but he still knockhim out, then he took on juan diaz whose style didnt match up well either, again he struggled but he took care of him, well those are challenges not what pac has been doing recently, pac could easily get a fight with joan guzman, or diaz or bradley but no he decided to go the easy way with david diaz, same as the hatton fight but i cant blame him for that fight it was just too much money to refuse, but at the time he took david diaz? cmon, now he is targeting cotto whom style doesnt match up well against pacman, pacquiao having every single advantage including defense, he doesnt have very good defense but still better than cotto, the only thing you could argue cotto has better is power but not for much and having all those advantages you also want to make cotto go down in weight? thats wanting your meal in a gold plate, compare to jmm going up in weight to fight fmj at 144, yes i know he wasnt going all the way up to 147 but the difference is fmj is a very small welter who could easily make 144, cotto is a big welter with everyting against him( speed, footwork, workrate, stamina, quickness, etc) and pacman also wants his only advantage(weight) to be gone? thats not a challenge, is not even fair...
yikes!:yikes bradley is still green, funeka is a lightweight, campbell is a blow-up lightweight over the hill, holt is a guy which such bad confidence its frustrating to watch, guzman is a guy that has mental issues as well, and judah who is practically almost finished.... who else was pac suppossed to fight if it wanst hatton, who was lineal at 140?
WTF!!??!?? Hatton was universally recognised as clearly being the best at 140. There was no question about it. Judah??!! LOL LOL LOL Anyway, Cotto has lost some of his lustre after the Margo fight. He didn't look too good vs Clottey, granted he was cut. If Pacquiao beats him for sure it will further cement his spot as P4P #1. But I don't think it will significantly add too much to his legacy. Mayweather is the only fight that can do that. Mosley would be a better win too.
There's no Taylor made in Boxing fight and style make it happen and Training, boxer conditioning what makes a boxer good and learning your opponent. and please dont make this Taylormade an excuse.
the only problem i have with this, is simply pacman gets plenty of credit for everything he has done in the ring. This thread is pretty irrelevant, im not gonna say he gets too much credit but hes definately walking that line pretty closely, i mean he is universly recognized as the best p4p fighter in the world, what more does he deserve
Dude please stop...atsch Dont ever put Pac's name in the same sentence as Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson. Any real boxing connoiseur will just laugh at your statement thats ridiculous. Beating Cotto who got wiped out by Margarito does not put you up there with those guys. Ali and Robinson are entirely different scenarios, please dont get me started son
