Mizutani is reaching in with jabs, growing confident. BIG UPPERCUTS by Choi, rocking Mizutani and opening cuts below her eyes. Left hooks and more uppercuts by Choi. Very tired, Mizutani is staggering into her rival, churning both hands in weak body combos, trying to tie up.

Round 8

Mizutani is getting rowdy in there, pushing ahead, leveraging both arms into Choi to propel her involuntarily onto her heels and pumping in body shots. Choi responds, anchoring herself and turning over hard left hooks downstairs. Uppercuts traded at point blank range. Choi gets Mizutani in a headlock from below, basically dangling from her throat with both wrists around it with a pincer grip.

Round 9

Big flurry by Choi, gets the small crowd worked up. Mizutani is soaking up major damage here, showing a hell of a chin. Big shots raining in from Choi. Mizutani weathers the storm, waits for Choi to get near enough to snatch & hold, and works the body with light taps. Mizutani starts to build up steam, jabbing over the head and missing as Choi ducks and then chopping down with rights, some rabbit punches. Choi dances away, then plants her feet and digs a left hook downstairs. Tides have turned again, Choi now coming forward. Left hook on the jaw by Choi. Clinch. Weak body shots by Mizutani.

This is honestly as high a skill level as Kulakova vs. Riederer from earlier today - and they fought in front of (no exaggeration) a thousandfold bigger audience.

 

Round 10

Mizutani waits patiently as Choi runs along one set of ropes and salutes the crowd at the bell to punctuate her dominant performance. Show of respect by Mizutani. Now they're back at it. Body shots traded in a phone booth. Nonstop action, though neither has any snap on their punches. Both land jabs simultaneously. Big right hand curled up top by Mizutani, ducked by Choi. Mizutani is grabbed by the back of the head, Choi pulling down on her as Mizutani shoeshines her belly.

I actually thought about giving that last one to Mizutani. :think

Hyun-Mi seemed to spend most of her remaining energy on her celebration & bonding with the dozen spectators.

 

Yeah, anything but a UD would be a surprise here.
