look.... i will NEVER disgrace a frietas, zoo, ect, they did whats right for them. it is their life, their health, their careers, and their blood, sweat and tears... but, what i can do, is hold those who have been in deep with adversity, pain, and against all odds fought back and didnt quit, to a higher standard of heart, and my hat goes off to those that do. amazing souls of amazing men.
There is a difference in being a smart fighter and refusing to engage. I enjoy smart fighters who can be defensive minded and really know how to use all dimensions of the ring. However, the bottom line is Wlad refused to fight to any extent. If he fought smart and lured Sultan into a trap that would be one thing, but Wlad simply refused to fight. Period!
Wlad did not refuse to fight. He fought a very intelligent fight. Only a complete fool would fall for what Sultan was trying to set up. He was trying to get Wlad to lean in so he could pop him with a either a right hook or a straight left down the middle while Wlad would be off balance. Do that perfectly, and your opponent will fall from being off balance, and not really so much from the punch. But the damage on the score cards will be done and you get a 10-8 round. Sultan's plan was amateurish at best. Wlad saw it immediately and I credit him highly for not falling for it and being patient enough to not get careless. Sultan has a very high KO percentage. He can hit. Remember Ray Austin in the Sultan fight? He basically told his corner that Sultan could hit like a freaking mule. Wladimir fought exactly the way one fights a person trying to do what Sultan does. It didn't look pretty, or make for an exciting fight, but the point is to win. And I also agree that Wlad, Vitali and Lennox have all been held to a double standard where others have not. I think Brewster is a quitter because there was nothing wrong with him in the second fight. Basically, he got his ass kicked and decided, I don't want this anymore. Tyson pulled the same stunt. The real iron men of this sport are guys like Sultan, Ray Mercer and Evander Holyfield to name a few. Those guys can lose every round and they still won't stop. However, if a man is seriously injured, there is no reason for him to continue fighting and risk his long term health. Live to fight another day.
I am well aware of Sultan's counterpunching. However, at 6'7' Wlad should be able to commit with a right hand without getting countered by a guy who is a questionable 6''. The true champions adapt to a style and make the necessary adjustments to win impressively. A champion does not cash in early and decide he get a victory by throwing a handful of jabs. If thats your idea of a champion then i respect that, but I can't accept that from a "heavyweight chapion".
I hear you. I can't stand it when people label fighters as cowards. Most of these ****s have never stepped foot into a ring but are so quick to call someone else out...****ing ridiculous.:-(
Ok, there are various reprots of his height maybe 6''5'. I also would tend to believe Wlad and "Goofy" Whitaker would be in a different class but maybe not.
If anybody says Lennox is a coward they do not have a clue, he feared no fighter. Tyson was more of a coward than Lennox.
i agree. its a risk reward business like any other business. its not about making yourslef the hardest mother ****er around
It's like this fans and Networks pay these "smart fighters" to perform and fight, and boxers get paid a lot of money to get in the ropes, :deal the fans that pay insane ticket prices and PPV'S deserve good fight's not assholes that run, or slap, or hug, we pay a lot of $$$ to see a real fight...:yep If guy's don't wanna get hit or afraid to fight balls out go get a job selling insurance... I doubt we will see Corey Spinks on HBO Again..:-(
Feti- you are very ignorant person, you dont know about Lamon Brewster's previous fights like I do, he has more heart than anyone you probably even met. Before you start calling a man a coward or *****, maybe you should look deeper than just one fight to make a stupid post like you did. Brewster has gotten into plenty of wars in his career where he never even thought about quiting, please watch these fights and retract the last statement of your post, he fought his heart out against Meehan, Eitenne, Wlad, Krasniqi, and fight of the year candidate Liakhovich. Lamon Brewster took 10 times more punishment in previous fights, but decided to quit against Wlad in the 6th after only taking jabs, maybe there was a underline reason why he didnt tell Buddy not to stop the fight, did you ever think his eye was still messed up, but needed the money to feed his family or was in debt and needed the fight now, more than ever? Judging by your post you havent seen Brewster fight much, because you wouldnt of said the ignorant **** you did.
