I actually admire Pac for taking a stance and holding his ground on principle...

I know we're all enjoying the discussion about Roger and the accusations, and which culture is the most honorable. But can someone please share your feelings on the main point of the thread:

If Pac, out of principle, says he will never budge or concede to any demands from Floyd Mayweather, why did he make even the smallest concession by offering 24 cut-off? I mean, holding out on principle means not budging one inch on the issue... Right?

Only an idiot would still believe he's holding out on principle, because he actually budged on the issue. And he budged pretty far when he at first agreed to the USADA testing as long as there was a cut-off.

    Not buying it!

You are allowing yourself to think there are circles when there's not. It was a move that was prompted by the allegations and demands from Floyd.

Manny wouldn't have said anytihng about a million dollar weight requirement or penalty if Floyd never spread rumors or demanded testing.

Moral values are subjective......For someone to lie about a man's rep and pull into question his career accomplishments that can have a serious impact on how one reacts. Manny reacted with the help of his team to level the palying field that floyd was trying to dictate.

If Anyone else asked for the testing without being so iressponsible by dragging anther man's name in the mud I'm sure Manny wouldn't have had any problems doing the tests...but of course that wasn't the case.

It's a unique situation that Floyd created. Everyone knows that cheating is wrong and that implementing measures to try and ensure an even palying field in the ring is a good thing.

So for Manny to out right say NO to testing would have been going against what he believes. He wants a clean fight...and testing would be "OK" but the problem was FLoyd himself who acted in a way that was irresponsible and out of the norm.

Floyd's never accused anyone else and he's never requested drug testing for any other opponent.

The principle is that you don't give someone who lies what they are demanding especially if it was at your own expense. The "CATCH 22" is that Manny wants to fight Floyd...so he was willing to meet Floyd half way in order to get the fight done.

They knew Floyd would be hard to negotiate with but they didn't nor were expecting the path Floyd would take to try and control the negotiations.

What you're basically saying is he doesn't have to do anything he's uncomfortable with. We all get that. He doesn't have to breathe oxygen if he doesn't want to. Nobody is forcing him to do anything. What some people miss is the fact that Pac and Floyd were going through a negotiation, NOT a Nazi concentration camp. If the girl you're dating lobbies for both you and her to get tested for STDs are you going to throw a fit and cry foul play? Doing so would be completely ridiculous, wouldn't it?

Pac has a job which means he has obligations to fulfill. His fans want to see him fight Floyd. By making a concession he isn't being bullied because: (1) Floyd made concessions to both the glove size and weight penalty (2) He is doing it for his fans, not Floyd. Take the tests for the fans. Everyone will be glad to see that Pac is 100% clean.

By the way, if rumors are true, he is actually caving in to Floyd's request by agreeing to the 14 day window. Not that I think this is a bad thing but it does debunk your theory that Manny would never crack.

    And you know this how?

    And you know this how?

And thank you for ending the notion that somehow, Mayweather brought up drug testing as a last minute attempt to 'duck' Pacquaio.

Please explain how did Pac's actions 'level the playing field'? And if your 'moral values' are affronted, what else is their really to negotiate?

Reminds me of that old joke:
    This content is protected

And that, my friend, is a response driven by ego and bruised feelings, not 'morals'.

Cause and effect.....the allegations and demands came first...cause...the effect was manny making his own off the wall demands for the pentaly for weight.

    Your welcome!:good

You can't really level the playing field when someone is holding the cards as in Floyd's case. His tactical move by the accusations and demands put Floyd in the drivers seat and put the ball in PAC's court. He wasn't in a situation where he could win...not on a moral stance or having the chance to clear his name that was semi tarnished by the accusations from Floyd and co.

Your stance on morals could be different from the next mans.....Manny isn't exactly like Floyd or doesn't seem to be like you. But I do understand his stance and I agree with how he has handled the situation.

I just hope they can somehow reach a common ground to get this fight done. At the end of the day fans loose b/c this fight is what boxing should be all about. The best facing the best without all the drama that is created by actions outside the ring.

Since nobody likes responding to my post or quoting me I'm putting it up again for someone to respond to.

If I was a clean fighter and whipping people's asses like Pac, Someone accusing me of steriods would be a complement to how I handle my business in the ring; Especially if that accuser is the other recognized #1 pound for pound. 20 mill on the line, I take the test to confirm I'm clean and have been. Then I show him I really am that great in the ring by whipping his ass cleanly.

It makes it look bad to not agree to blood testing randomly and some people will take that bit and say he is on PEDs, affecting legacy in those people's eyes. I don't think pac is on something until he is caught. But If he refuses and keeps making the blood testing an issue in negotiations for the next fight then I'm gonna be looking at him funny. Funny like i think he is full of **** about this superstition. Somebody should be working with him to break him of it. Show him he still can do the same things shortly after having blood drawn. It's that simple with training. There is too much money on the line which will prolly be 60+ million to split. If he isn't broken of the laughable superstition, making the fight fall through, I will really be questioning him then. I could break someone of that superstition with hard training in 1 or 2 weeks, to show them they are the same fighter regardless of a few viles of blood drawn.

It just makes too much business sense to break him of this and go forward with all championship fights through out boxing from now on being clean regardless of how it came about. The excuse of blood drawn from him makes him weak is flat out as stupid as his handling of the situation.

Unfortunately NO testing measures will completely clear any athlete of accusations that he or she is doping....not even the USAD's testing measures.

I don't think that accusations that pull into question a mans merrit or repuation is something that one would take as a compliment. Not when you are in a position of polotics or at the top of your profession. Nothing good comes from lies that are based on nothing.

While I agree it does somewhat look questionable for NOT accepting the blood testing demands of Floyd from the surface when anyone looks deeper into the situation and the events that led up to the collapse of the fight you begin to have more questions about the ACCUSER...not the one being accused.

Superstition is in a lot of ways as strong as one's faith. And for a guy like Manny he's very much rooted in his faith and superstitions that requires him to do certian routines that would be seen as crazy or comical but in his mind it assist with his success.

Manny has stated years before that he was not keen on allowing blood to be taken from him b/c he felt it made him weak....and then Floyd requested testing that required blood testing which wasn't a problme other than the fact that it would be up to the fight date.

Then of course the back and forth offers of a cut off date were made......but the truth is this fight should have already happend...WITHOUT the demands and WITHOUT the false accusations from the other side.

With the accusations and demands we see the outcome...NO FIGHT. But I think we'll still see it down the road. Who will give in? I don't really care...I just want to see the fight. But I do understand PAC's stance.

Thank you. Too many people are missing the point. I dont really want to get into the whole ped thing its been beat to death on this site. But its been stated by many experts that EPO's can be used in a 24 day period because some dont show up in **** tests, and would actaully be out of his system if he was off 6 to 8 days before the fight.

Principle would have had Manny saying that he wasnt going to take the test period, but the word out of his camp was they had no problem with testing then all of a sudden they did. Its not that hard to see that flip flopping on the issue isnt taking a stand, it isnt about making the fights for the fans or the money. this is only a big deal because Manny made it a big deal.

Lets not forget that Manny, Arum and the WBO strongarmed Cotto into taking the fight for his welterweight title at less then the limit weight. So what Manny is saying is that its ok to have his demands pushed on other fighters but no fighter is going to push thier demands on him. Kinda sounds like a DIVA.

I took a similar stance once by refusing to take a breathalyzer test when the cops pulled me over for drunk driving!

It was like, you're being suspected of drug trafficking then the FBI's showed at your front door without search warrant, they want to bust you even if you're innocent, will you let them search you and your house?
