Quite surprised Dean didn't stop the fight in the 1'st, Carwin was barely defending himself for 10 seconds with Santos just teeing off at will. In the 3'rd round the doctor should have stopped the fight, what was the point going on? He was just being mashed up for fun.

 

the doctor is there to do his/her job, which is to see if the fighter is too hurt to continue, or in serious danger to having permanent damage done (especially eye injuries), not to decide when he/she thinks a particular fighter has no chance


if you want to ***** about stopping the fight early, put the blame on carwin's corner

 

I don't think that it was an Ad Populum fallacy. He's not necessarily trying to appeal to a notion that the majority of people support. His post seems like a combination of Argumentum ad Antiquitatem and an extended analogy fallacy.

It was pretty silly irrespective of how you want to categorize the error of his argument.

Carwin managed to land some good shots in the second round. He was fine. If he landed a good one he could have ended the fight. Maybe you guys wouldnt be bitching then. Then again there are all these morons saying brock lesnars fight should have been stopped in the 1st round when he was fully fine in the next round and finished the fight. Im sorry, I wanted shane to beat brock more than anyone but the right man won the fight. If you cant stomach watching violence watch a different sport. Maybe somebody should make a gladiator refernce in here. Those dudes were getting tbere heads cut off, nevermind braindamage which btw I garantee you they suffer much more during the actual training. It wasn't as bad as the pacman margarito fight but, same idea. Brock was defending himself much better than Carwin was btw. Also, I love a good bloody fight but, not when it is one sided like this was.

 

For me it's not necessarily his heart that made me want to see him continue to fight. It's his huge power in his fists. All it takes is just one shot and the fight can change in a heartbeat - just like what we saw in his fight with Gonzaga. Yes, Carwin's face was a mess. But don't tell me Struve didn't look like he was a horror show and somehow managed to force a comeback to win a fight. If Dos Santos really wanted the ref to stop the fight he should've found a way to submit Carwin in the first round.

 

Good deal. Ethics and logic were two of my favorite classes when I was an undergrad.
