by FOTY...I think he means Fighter of The Year... not fight.

If he fights and beats Clottey,Judah, or Williams next, he has a strong chance of getting the award.

Ah, yes, now I see. Common use has sort of pigeonholed FOTY to mean fight, although I guess you can certainly use it for fighter as well.

Still stand by my post though. Izzy's 12 rounds trump anything anyone else has done so far. :D

When I meant Margo not vs.. or against to.. as an awardee, it ddnt implied a fight bro. but Margo's recent performance as the rightful claimant in Fight(ER) of the yr award. Sorry if that misled everyone.

he makes a strong case for it right now. knocking out cintron and cotto is big. can anyone measure up to those fights in any weight?

Margarito is the clear frontrunner for FOTY so far... big win vs the 'improved' Cintron and a sick performance vs. Cotto, one we'll always remember... The other candidates are far behind. And there's still time for Margarito vs. Judah/Clottey at the end of the year to add another possible win.

Calzaghe - close win vs. Hopkins, fights old Roy
Pavlik - depends if and how he can beat Nard
Mijares - unification, but no Montiel fight
Pac - close (controversial by many) win over Marquez, LW title vs. mediocre Diaz, maybe a huge win over DLH - well that would do it
Campbell - beating Diaz with a superb performance and if he can beat Guzman, that's something really big - do not overlook this guy!

He'd have my vote for whippin' two of the three provided Williams is one of them. Absolutely.

Hell, after last Saturday, maybe even just Williams. The Williams fight would make it justifiable, poetically speaking-I guess?

I agree. Beating the winner of Judah-Clottey would be a nice icing on the cake, but beating Paul Williams? That'd be incredible. While their first fight was close, Williams has improved and its very hard on a mental level to beat someone after giving 100% against them. However, when someone like Margarito gives 100%, anything can happen.

Cintron, Cotto and Williams in a year. That's an old-school type resume, back when top 10 boxers like Harry Greb and SRR were fighting 6+ times a year with multiple fights against p4p opponents. Cintron is at least one of the best in the division; Cotto was and probably still is on the way to being one of the best of the generation and a top 5 p4p boxer; Williams is a freak of nature and in my opinion has the potential to beat anyone.

All this from a boxer people have written off multiple times as being a mediocre champion? In one year? Almost unbelievable. Just think how many people wrote off Margarito after the Williams loss.

So far I still have PAC as frontrunner for Fighter of the Year awardee with Margarito as close 2nd.

PAC's win over JMM gave him his 3rd belt in 3 different weight division and his trashing of David Diaz gave him his 4th belt in 4 different weight division.

December is still a long way to go and PAC and Margo's 3rd fight this year will possibly seal the award.

If PAC wins against Hoya then he's a shoo in for Fighter OTY (imagine jumping from one weight class to another higher weight class in accomplishing these victories) but if Margo also beat someone big (Williams maybe) then it will be a close affair.
