Povetkin should have taken the shot. He not so young.

If he had taken it in 2008, he could have earned 3 Million Dollars and after 2 years and learned from the loss, the next shot.

    Povetkin will not getting better.

I like Povetkin but this is looking extremely bad for him. He is mandatory to Wlad since January 2008, if he would take his shot in September that's 2.75 years he's sitting on his ranking. The guy he beat for his mandatory position, Chambers, got (and took) his shot at Wlad before him, as another mandatory that is. He'll be 31 in September. He really had enough time.

As you yourself have alluded to, the issue is not that he wants more time, but that he has been deceptive about it. It really looks now like his leg injury was a fake, and he has wasted two years of our time.

Great, let Teddy train you to move your head a bit more and set down on your punches. But could you have told us this at least when you first started working with Atlas?

Put him in! It the chance of a lifetime. He has shown already a Chageav type work rate with taking fights, its not good.Get yourself a name!.If Povetkin dont go for it now he never will.Even if he lost to Wlad so what!It dont make him a bad fighter, take the title fight!
I dont agree with Atlas at all

I can never forget or forgive what Atlas did to Michael Grant. I also think Michael Moorer was better before and in-spite of Atlas. There is no telling what the real reason is why Atlas did not want this fight. That being said, I have respect for Teddy and I have learned a lot from him. I just wish he would leave the psycho analysis to the professionals.

Atlas is dumb, confused, **** up. He has spent years saying Klitschkos are overated, and that they like only soft opponents. Now he says Povotkin is not ready? After fight is negotiated, signed, and promoted? I saw on another site someone mention that it could be Atlas egois so big he cannot stand thought of his fighter losing to Klitschko. That is very posible. Again, Atlas gets a top contender that someone else develops, and makes himself center of story.

I'm wondering what is going through managers minds? They fired trainer and hired Atlas to pull this? Fans get ****ed, Povetkin looks bad, promoters are screwed, all for what? A top contender who earned spot, has great background, being considered not ready at last minute?

Atas is always calling for investigations. Well, they should investigate this.

When did people develop until they're 30?

They want WBC belt after Vitali retires. That's the plan, it's realistic and they know it. Adamek will be in for it too.

Well, I think we can throw the word "team" out the window here. I would think that ultimately the fighter has to be the leader of his team and take responsibility. Alexander Povetkin is not looking like champion material at all with this fiasco. I didn't realize he was almost 31 years old? I have to think he will never be ready in Teddy's eyes.

Povetkin is doing the right thing. He is learning the American style, under Atlas of moving the head more, rolling with punches and lateral movement. He has a great natural skillset but he needs refining and Atlas is a great teacher. Wlad is an absolute beast right now and ruins his opponents careers with his ruthless, clinical beatdowns. Let Wlad get older and Sasha get better and he will be a very formidable challenge to Wlad in a couple of years. Let A.P. fight Dimentrenko and other top guys and refine his boxing technique. He has future champion written all over him. His left hook is a thing of beauty, reminds me of Joe Frazier's leaping left hook that knocked Ali on his ass.

Titty At-l-ASS said that the Klitschkos are the worst fighers in boxing history, so why did Titty not want his fighter Povetkin to fight Vlad? Titty is a damned fraud.

I remember reading some bull-manure years ago in KO magazine in which Frank Bruno thought he wasn't mature enough as s fighter upon his initial title shot with Mike Tyson in 1989.

Hells Bells, Frank Bruno was like age 27 yrs in 1989..... WTF?:huh

they need to just buy him a nice big purse and fill it with tampons.
guy has been a pro for almost 6 years....great amateur backround, gold medal in the 2004 olympics... wasting 6 months between fights and fighting javier moras and leo nolans isnt gonna help him prepare any better...if youre goona use that excuse, the dude has to be active and actually get in the ring.....what a joke....... evander fought for his first world title 24 months after he won his bronze medal...against the toughest champ at the time in Qawi....and only 12 pro fights....leon spinks 13 months....
povetkin is either lazy or has no balls....or both
