    Having not seen Mares since his loss to Gonzalez, watching him now against Cruz I'm really at a loss how he was once considered an elite fighter. His style is so ugly, reckless, and sloppy to watch.

    Yeah, I never got the talk of Abner being the next Mexican great that a number of people were saying post his KO of Ponce, he just never had the tools to reach that level imo.

    That said, he had a pretty damn good run pre-Jhonny and tonight he put in a very spirited performance, which surprised me as I thought he was done after the last fight I saw of him vs Oquendo where he looked broken mentally.

    And STILL... pound for pound the dirtiest fighter in boxing today...

    He's cleaned it up quite a bit from Agbeko I-Moreno fights but he's Emeritus champion for that criteria for years to come.
