Walcott had neglected to appraise himself of the timekeepers location,a must.
When Ali knocked Liston down ,Ali remained standing over him,Walcott became confused and when Liston got up stood in front of him,meanwhile the timekeepers gavel can be heard banging off the seconds.Walcott looked around for the timekeeper and walked to the ropes to find him .Liston and Ali resumed fighting .
Fleischer informed Walcott that the timekeeper had counted Liston out ,Walcott returned to the ring action and stopped the fight .

fleischer might not have stopped the fight but he did help **** it up.

liston ****ed up. its easy to officiate a fight when both boxers are willing. mills lane could not have done a beter job under the circumstances.
