Boxing like other businesses are always looking to expand into new and developing markets, India, ****stan, and China represent a huge potential market and as such huge revenue numbers, which translate to "Mo money, mo money!"
Bob, Oscar and a few other promoters are doing shows there and have signed a few Chinese Olympians.
What the promoters are banking on is human nature, everybody loves a good fight, also there is a lot of money to be made in gambling. Asians love to gamble as much as anybody, go to any casino in the world and you will find all the casinos are looking for their business. Asians, love to bet, they even bet on cricket fights lol. Gambling and Boxing go together like bread and butter. The promoters are doing a smart thing in bringing them to train in the US with very good trainers. Lend them our boxing history so that they can develop their own.
Boxing is a long term business those that realize that are successful. Given time who knows, they will have their own HOF'r's, their SRR. I believe Pac opened the floodgates, now let's wait n see.

Go out and start talking to people, after a while you will get used to it and it becomes easier.

I haven't dealt with him at all. I have a wait n see attitude about him. He has signed 170 fighters that's more then TR and Goldenboy have signed combined. I want to see what happens a year from now when everyone of those fighters have to be kept active. I for one wouldn't want to be one of many, and everybody is jockeying for position. We will see what a difference a year makes. Wish him luck, anything good for boxing is good for everybody.

Thanks dempsey. Interesting you mention about having to keep them all active as there's a lot of talk out there that most of the fighters on his books aren't getting any fights at all and have had their careers completely stagnate since signing.

The fighter who had it all:
The nub, was the nick name of this fighter who had it all, looks, excellent skills and great amateur pedigree, speed of hand and foot and one punch power. The nub had a HOF promoter, a HOF matchmaker and had one of the best and most experienced managers to guide him in his career. anybody who saw him early in his career, labeled him a can't miss prospect. But he threw it all away, how you may say?
He listened to his father and his know it all friends rather than the people who knew the game and had the experience to take him along the right path. Instead of the brilliant career he might have had, he was dropped by his promotional company, has gone 2-2-1, in his last 5 fights, was dropped 4 times, and took a beating in three of his last 5 fights. Has fought only once in the past year and has now signed with a third tier promoter. The nub is now 25yrs old and really going nowhere. Sad, cos he could have had it all instead now at 25 he is looking to re-build his career.

..Why would anyone want to listen to inexperienced people?..instead of trainers/managers etc.?..
... theres so many potential career killers along the way..one mistake can have a huge effect.
Who is this guy?..hes from U.S.?..UK?
Could it be that he was a protected fighter(like ssoo many out there)..and he started loosing wen he started fighting true fighters?
Demps, whats your take on a fighter with great potential that also wants hes college education and puts boxing in second place..only training part time..is that i good idea..or should it be the other way around.(asuming the guy has true potential..and wants to become chmp))..
    One more question...
Do you think being religious hurts a fighter?

    Peleador,
The fight game is littered with boxers that have made decisions based on listening to those who tell them what they want to hear rather than what needs saying, truth hurts. The easy road is to do that and family influences have always been a big factor.

Even the greatest fighters of all time SRR,Ali,Louis etc massive entourages massaging the fighters ego, many adding nothing but staying on the payroll all about keeping 'the champ' sweet and staying on the gravy train.Everyone is your friend right?Easy to think that but wrong!Even the savvy fighters that knew their worth like SR Leonard had a lawyer in Mike Trainer that was always questioning peoples worth to SRL.He was getting guilt trips left right and center off family, bailing and helping out 'loans' that he knew he would never see again.Family in boxing has had some success stories but more often than not the inexperienced get found out at the top end.

Religion is an interesting point in sport, seems almost a fashion to 'thank god' etc for the latest win not just boxing, sport across the board.Evander Holyfield ring entrances were different for those that remember, chose religious music over rap!
