...homeboy is coming in at 227 again. Somebody needs to get this man a nutritionist and a weights coach.

Imagine if he put himsefl through Holyfield's regiment.

    It's Taurus Sykes.

However I agree. He should not be taking Sykes lightly. Just because Sammy knocked him out early doesn't mean Povetkin can beat him.

lifting weights would be detrimental to what povetlin brings to the table IMO.

quick hands and high workrate is what makes him the fighter he is and weights could have a negative effect on these 2 attributes.

    Not neccesarily true.

You don't have to do heavy weight to bulk up. You can do light weight higher reps- the modern equivalent of chopping wood.

If he got more toned without bulking up, it would only help him.

Right on. He proved his workrate was better than literally any other top heavyweight since Ibeabuchi, so who cares what the numbers say? He has those - i don't know what it's called - endomorph? In which you look like you've never worked out (much like Fedor, Ibragimov, Chagaev, hell even Ali never looked muscular), but looks are deceiving...

Yeah, I am a fan for a reason.

Still, if he could come in at 219 like he used to...

Personally, Ambition, I would love to see Peter and Povetkin go at it. This would be a very entertaining fight between warriors.

They used to make this same arguement about Toney Galento.

Add Lyakovich to that list. Although, I will disagree with the Ali shout, in the majority of his matches he looked in peak shape and whilst not looking like Ibeabuchi or Bruno, he looked like a very naturally big man. He had the perfect musculature for a boxer. Not bulked up, but someone able to go 15 rounds with no problems.

I agree, Ali does look more "fit" (not in the English sense of the word, but the American sense, conditionally) than the former mentioned...

This is what i like about Wladimir. He used to have almost a weigh lifter's physique and questionable stamina. Right now he has more of a boxer's physique and his stamina looked fine in every fight since Steward is in charge of his conditioning as well as normal training.

I agree. After Povetkin dispatches of Waldo we will probably see this fight. Can't wait.

He needs an haircut. That eastern European look does not cut in America.

I too think Povetkin best weight is about 218-220, but in Povetkin's case do not judge a book by its cover.

Povetink's stamina, intangibles, and fighting heart are the best in the division!

While Povetkin might never be on a cover of Men's health with his shirt off, he is a skilled fighter with throw back type of intangibles similar to Rocky Maricano or Evander Holyfield. I get the feeling that Povetkin can over come, take a man's will, or cast himself to walk into fire if that is his only path for victory.
