You show me where I said "he didn't need help." ...and I'll show you a Jesse Reid quote. I said, Reid said he didn't need help....I am echoing Reid's words...which you refuse to do, yet you still wish to spin the quote. I concede that some "wrongly thought" he needed help...and always have, and posted the Reid comment to prove it. You alleged that Pops' teaching ability was doubted, along with all of the other stuff you invented. They thought (wrongly) he needed help, they never doubted his ability. YOu didn't even know who came and when, until I told you...and you are still pretending you know about the situation. You said they got McKinley because of what happened in the WLAD fight...that is wrong. Peter got him because of the first Toney fight...check the press of the time. Nothing to do with WLAD.
If Peter comes overweight then it's only Peter's problem he lost and excuses about Peter being overweight should be ignored and I'm a Peter AND Vitali fan. If Peter doesn't want to take this fight seriously then what other fight will he take seriously?, does he honestly think that the Toney fight was more important?, he's fighting the older brother of a guy that already beat him, that should be enough motivation for Peter to come in perfect physical and mental condition.
No you didn't say "right after..." ...you said the same thing, in other words... ...which can be found originally, right here... http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2455180&postcount=58 This is false...he was brought in after the first Toney fight...Post Toney I, not post WLAD.
From what I read Samuel is hard to train and at times doesnt listen to instructions well in the corner, which can be problematic for Peter in the future. I personally dont care what some of the haters say, Peter has improved his craft since Wlad in September of 05, in 3 years he went from a free swinging clubber, to a well adjusted power puncher and quite the boxer when he chooses to be. His jab is good, and his counter punching has really been impressive, especially against McCline and Maskaev. If Peter comes in at around 260 or more, he deserves what he gets, whatever that may be. I think he will probably tip the scales at around 252, 256 at most, which is certainly over what he should be, but it shouldnt hurt him too bad. I just hope he's taking Vitali serious, wether or not he backs out of yet another fight, shouldnt even be on his mind, and team Peter should stress that to him, or it may be a long and tough war for him come fight night.
Yeah, the way people completely ignore Peter's improvements is insane and the McCline fight is the reason. Then again that fight with McCline proves that even if Peter is hurt or floored he will still come back and if he does the same against Vitali it could spell doom especially in Vitali's case where I don't see him carrying his stamina or being active enough after the long lay-off with serious injuries. His weight though continues to worry me, I'll be hoping to see him at 250-255 most, anything above that will be dangerous and will answer serious questions about Peter's desire and motivation in the sport. If he can't train hard enough for the bigger brother of a man that beat him then he won't train hard for no one, not even Wladimir.
I agree. Peter has improved a bit. He's got a solid jab, can combo a bit and seems more sound on defense. The #2 heavy in the world behind Wlad.
Yes, that's just say he comes in at 260 and blows Vitali out of the water, look for Peter to never come in at anywhere close to 250 ever again. I been watching Samuel as closely as anyone over the last few years and one thing is for sure, he's extremely confident, and with Don King hanging off his shorts, he comes off as down right cocky, similar to the 90's version of Tyson, which makes me think a downfall is right around the corner. I just hope he stops all the "Who Next" ****, and goes back in the gym and trains a little harder, his stamina seemed a little suspect in the Maskaev fight, and his corner let him know, when they told him to take a break the following round, a guy thats 6'0 and a half should not be 255-260, even though he is thick set, 240-245 should be the max for him, I just dont see him getting down to that anymore.
Yes, he has proved enough to be the number 2 man imo, though I use to be a Chagaev fan, and thought he deserved the spot more than Peter based on resume alone, he has since fell from the 2 spot because of inactivity and the reluctance/health reasons, he has backed out of fights with 2 top fighters, one being his mandatory.
Could be right, we'll have to wait and see, I'll be looking to make a final prediction based on his weight, right now I'm sticking with Peter by decision or late TKO. If he comes in 260+ then my prediction MIGHT change depending on how Vitali looks, he has a major advantage right now to make his only loss look like it has been avenged on paper and if this doesn't motivate him then as I said, nothing will. His attitude is pretty decent, he's trying to sell the fight in my opinion but in order to be taken seriously I would like to see him train harder and focus more. If he can't manage to do that anymore then he's better off doing something else than risking his life. Something tells me his rematch win over Toney got him a bit cocky as you said, then the McCline fight came and I hoped he will come back with a different mentality, but no. Let's see what weight he comes in and how he performs here.
Scar...unrelated, but you missed it. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2451331&postcount=14
