I think is funny the hate between Mex and us PUR's. I think that it what makes the competition more interesting, obviously there are guys whose comments are way out of line but **** them, still the boxing world is enriched with our battles.

I dont know why people think its a stretch to say Cotto quit when he took a knee with no intentions of fighting more?

Its a ego thing for some people to see their favorite fighter go down like that IMO

When a fighter doesn't continue because he physically is not able to, that's called quiting...and some people around here don't like that because of how quiting is viewed...it hurts them if you don't see the same illusion they do when viewing their fighter.

I haven't heard anyone call Cotto a disgrace, or a piece of sh*t , or anything like that...becuase probably nobody feels that way. However whether or not the man quit isn't open for discussion, and those who struggle with that fact are not only emotionally blinded, but I'm sorry to say feeble minded.

I agree no one is calling out Cotto as a person but he did quit because he was taking a beating nothing worng with that

 

Cotto is 27 years old and still hasn't had that big payday. How the hell was he going to retire? Floyd is damn near 32, set for life and has other business ventures. The guy already punched his ticket into the hall and will go down as an ATG. He did not retire to avoid Margo. Even if he had no intention of ever fighting Margo, he still had other options. Despite what many Margo fans think, the boxing world does not revolve around Margo. The guy just recently got his first big win. Floyd has been one of the best in the business for 10 years. No one outside of hardcore fans or latinos even knows who the hell Margo is. Let's use some common sense here.

I have respect for Rican fighters, always have. The one fighter I disliked because of his blatant racism but respected his talent was Wilfredo Gomez. He hated Mexicans with a passion, he beat most of them, and bit off far more than he could chew when he said he was gonna "send Salvador Sanchez's "w#tback ass back to Mexico in a coffin" and Sanchez destroyed him, punished him for it.

I don't care what nationality you are, racism sucks.

But yeah, Ricans and Mexicans have never gotten along, though I don't have a problem with them.

 

I am forced to have a truce, im Mexi-Rican, Besides why should either side hate one another? I mean these fights between the two are Boxing at its best man if anything we should embrace eachother and be proud of what both countrys bring to the sport.

 

I noticed that both Margarito and Cotto were very professional towards each other, very friendly. The rivalry has always been fascinating and never fails to stir up controversy, which is why Mexicans like myself and Ricans are drawn to it.
