You couldn't really call that quitting since Evangelista was the one who threw in the towel. Cotto never said "No Mas" or anything like that. If his trainer didn't threw the towel, who's to say Cotto wouldn't have still continued? Cotto probably realized that there's no point in continuing since, aside from being badly beaten up, his corner pretty much gave up on the fight. So he chose not to continue. But if the towel wasn't thrown, can you still say Cotto would have still given up? DESPITE the fact that he STILL stood up before the 8th count. I mean if he really wanted to quit, he could've just stayed down the whole count.

Its like MAB-Pac 1 fight. MAB was getting beat up pretty badly as well until his corner threw in the towel. That's considering the fact that, like Cotto, MAB NEVER gave up and NEVER told the referee he wanted no more. But if we go by your logic, then I guess we can also say that MAB "quit" on that fight. That "He could continue to fight but chose for his corner to bail him out than continue on and try to fight back. He quit." :roll:
