Yes, the inactivity is a huge issue. We need to see some sort of pressure for good match ups to occur. Right now the talent level has jumped enough to organize a tournament. I think with more competition, the HW picture is about to become less clear in the next 2 years( I think the belts will change hands more frequently) and so calls for a tourney will be made.

Someone posted about this a few weeks ago. They suggested something similar to the SMW super-six. That's what got me thinking that the status of the Heavy division isn't so dire right now.

But I honestly can't see the Klits entering, nor Haye. Without any titles up for grabs it might be hard to get anyone else willing to enter either. I think there is too much ego at Heavy and not enough pride.

I know I'll take heat for this but I'm not gonna lie I'll always watch the heavyweight division regardless. I've always loved boxing and loved the heavyweight division b/c of the possibility of brutal knockouts. Even though I never will like Haye b/c of his trashtalking, I give him props that he's brought more attention to the hw division. Plus as y'all already mentioned there are other up and coming prospects that we can keep our eyes on. I'm curious if Haye will ever fight the K brothers. All I know is that I'm excited to see how Adamek, Chambers, Povetkin, and Tua will do in their next fights.

    Yep...

and if anything... Oniel Bell, Jean Marc Mormeck and Vassilly Jirov are giving it another run, could be a interesting watch i guess.

Mormeck is fighting Maddalone soon, could be a upset in that one.

What would you consider the upset? The old inactive Cruiserweight ex-champ beating the old heavyweight journeyman or vice versa? :huh

I never thought the division was bad in the first place. They practically always have people saying the era sucks. After the late sixties and early seventies, every HW era makes people unimpressed. There's always an interesting match, just not always publicity to stir people up.

I agree. People are tired of seeing mismatches everytime. I cant remember the last time when there was a competitive fight with a Klitschko. I am a Klitschko fan but I hate Vitaliy-Johnson fight. He didnt prove anything, doesnt have a worthy opponent on his resume but is already fighting for a title:patsch
Now, everybody just wants a piece of the Klits. Instead of working their way to the top by fighting each other they avoid any serious competition. Chambers is the only guy that does it the old way.

I bring no sarcasm. I'm a heavyweight division fanboy plain and simple, for over twenty years now. Even with some crap years I've stuck with it.

I don't think this has been a good year quality wise for the heavyweights.
However, I do think it's been good for 'clearing the waters', we've had some weak contenders and pretenders disposed of across the board and things are shaping up better.

I'm hoping for 2010 to bring the quality.

Good post. :good Things seem to finally be clearing up after the shitstorm that came with Lewis' retirement. Povetkin, if he wakes from his winter sleep, could become a top player again, too.

    Thomas? Weaver? Bowe? Witherspoon? Bruno?:admin:admin

You re kiddding, arent you! A Polish thug twice kicked Bowe' ass,Holy looked like crap when he fought Cyzz(have never seen any present top heavy look as weak as Holly against a true no-hoper),that stiff black from the UK,Bruno, would lose against any present top 25.UK's version of Timo HOffman.
    Thomas? Weaver? Pah!
